Headed into my first Wormhole

The first day getting into a wormhole was pretty exciting. Through a guild podcast, I heard that one of the Eve corporations from the guild was working in wormholes, and since I have wanted to give it a try for a while, I decided to add an alt into the corp. While I don't have optimal skills for WH life, I have the basics – astrometrics, cloaking, and covert ops, and I can fly what they were looking for at the moment – an Assault Frigate.

I was sitting in Jita, in my starter corp, so joining the WH corporation took no time at all, and fitting out my AF took only a few minutes once I found a fit I liked. 218 dps and 7k hp – not too bad for a frigate. I probably could get more, but my skills at EFT are not the best. After purchasing a bunch of ammo for my first sleeper sites, I headed off for the 30 jumps from Jita to get to the entrance. Traveling in high sec was pretty tame after spending so much time time null sec on my main – the difference being that there was no intel channel to watch for hostiles.

28 jumps into my adventure, and I realized that I had not upgraded my clone. Luckily, the 29th system held a station with medical facilities, and being low sec and empty, I had no problems docking and updating my clone. I was indeed lucky – my clone was set to the basic version so I would have lost significant skill points had I been podded.

Having prevented a huge headache, I proceeded into my first wormhole…it is pretty much like the rest of Eve – a lot of new stuff to learn…

This was also my first time interacting with ship maintenance arrays and corporate hangars in a POS. I found it's much easier to use the fitting service on a POS when you have the proper roles. Once set, I got my ship reconfigured to PvE and set out with a couple of other AFs to clear out the Sleeper sites.

We ran a couple of Perimeter Checkpoints and a Perimeter Hangar and then I unfortunately had to leave. Sleepers are interesting in that they switch up who they attack randomly and these use a NOS to harass you. The couple of pilots with me had experience in these sites, and they guided me along so I didn't hurt myself. The Sleepers are a bit more difficult than your standard rat, and worst of all, you have to loot and salvage afterwards or you get no ISK. But the eventual ISK is well worth the extra effort.
