RIP Vile Rat

Shock and sadness greeted me last night as I logged in to Eve. This is a game I play as entertainment and for enjoyment, and it reached out and smacked me in the real world.

Someone in my extended gaming family was really gone and for no rational reason.

I was not surprised when I learned that he worked for the State Department, considering gamers come from all walks of life, but I was surprised to hear that he had been killed.

As a gamer, I mourn with my gaming family the passing of Vile Rat, as an American, I thank him for his service in the real world, and as a human being, I pray for his family and the people he has left behind.

Memorials are appearing all over the Eve community, I am sure you can find them, but along with the Cyno Memorial above, the Space Monkey's Alliance put together a nice video memorial, and stations all over Eve were renamed in remembrance…
