Steam and Raptr say I play too much League of Legends

I was listening to a podcast today that mentioned the Steam Gauge web site that scans your Steam account and tells you how many hours you've played, the money you've spent and the number of games you have in your Steam account.

I decided to give this a go and see what my stats were, and I was a bit surprised. Not so much by the amount of money if spent or the number of games I have. And particularly not by the disk space required to load all games – I've had many a bout of hair pulling trying to make sure the specific game I want to play or update has enough room on my laptop.

No, the number I am surprised about is the number of hours the site says that I have spent playing games purchased from Steam. 157.7 certainly does not jive with the concept I have for how much time I spend gaming. Especially considering that is spread out over 5 years. Doing the math, that ends up as less than 3 hours a month.

Now I can guarantee that I have spent more than 3 hours a month gaming so where is all that time tracked?

If I look at Raptr, it indicates that I have over 900 hours tracked. 400+ of that in League of Legends. I'm not really sure what the time frame is for Raptr tracking, but I started playing LoL about a year ago. That's an average of over an hour of LoL every day in the last year.

As I look back at that time spent in LoL, and the frustration it often causes me (I finally DID make it to Silver), I come to the realization that I should branch out more and spend my game time in other worlds. I think I am going to try to put a plan together that will help me expand my gaming so I get out of the rut of LoL and start enjoying more of what the gaming industry has to offer.

If anyone has recommendations for breaking my LoL habit and expanding my horizons, let me know, I could use the help.

This is post 7 in my Blaugust Challenge.
