Lots of ‘B’ challenges in August

Wow, with two challenges things have gotten interesting.

Blaugust

First off, with Blaugust, I am still blogging away on day 19. I think things are becoming a little easier? Maybe? Regardless, today, I don't feel it as much of a grind, but am enjoying myself. Unfortunately, I haven't been getting much gaming time in.

I did manage to put in another 10 turns of my Civ V game – going from 1320 BC to 1000 BC. Other than wiping out a couple of barbarians and destroying one of their cities, nothing much happened. I did research Mathematics, Construction and Currency and adopted Representation so that I got bumped into a Golden Age, but my interactions with city-states and other civs has been minimal. Most of my focus has been on cranking up my science so I gain a technology advantage, but I did build a caravan and start a trade route to Antwerp. I am thinking that the next set of turns will lead to some action as I am pretty set in my current cities and will start looking for expansion opportunities. Sailing may be the way to go since I seem to have a pretty big jungle between me and the southern part of the continent I am on.

Bout of Books

I managed to get one chapter of Deadly Curiosities read yesterday. Definitely less than I wanted to, but the book has hooked me. I wasn't really sure what it was about (I didn't read the back cover or anything), but I trusted the Mysterious Galaxy Book Club to pick a good one for their discussion group. Supernatural urban fantasy is definitely a genre I like, so I am looking forward to getting further into this book, and with a bit of Warehouse 13, I am intrigued.

Along with the reading, Bout of Books has some other events going on during the thon. Today, there is a micro-challenge – Book Spine Poetry sponsored by My Little Pocketbooks. While I am no poet, and it really do not understand poetry much, I thought I'd give it a shot with my kindle library so here goes…

Dream London

Leviathan Wakes

Deadly Curiosities

[of] Foreign Affairs

[and] Science News

Flash Forward

I, Robot

[riding] Chariots of the Gods

Spin

Man's Search for Meaning

The Demon Awakens

American Gods

[and] The Odessey

[of] Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 Unleashed

A History of War

I don't know what it means or even if there is a meaning, but I thought it sounded kinda nice. Here's one with my Steam games as Simcha did, but I didn't have the images to display…

Cave Story

Torchlight

The Forrest

Empire: Total War

Wasteland 1

Amnesia:The Dark Decent

Civilization

Transistor

Age of Empires

Sins of a Solar Empire

Wasteland 2

Defiance

City of Heroes

Stardrive

Age of Wonders

Valiant Hearts: The Great War

Limbo

Beyond Divinity

Well, I don't know if it means anything other than throwing together the names of some games I have on Steam, but I thought they fit together nicely.

This is post 19 in my Blaugust Challenge.
