Getting ready for Fantasy Football Week 1

I am looking forward to the start of the NFL season this week and am excited to see how my team does. Here is my lineup for the first week's games:

I dropped the kicker I drafted, Matt Prater, because he is suspended for the first few weeks of the season. Apparently he drinks too much and that's not good when you've had a DUI a few years ago. In his place I picked up Nick Folk from the Jets. Since I don't know much about kickers, I am going off the estimated points they are expected to post this week. Hope it works out.

My first week's opponent looks like this:

He was the team that picked Russell Wilson in the first round (5th pick). ESPN estimates that he will post a total of 117.1 points while I should be getting 146.2. A pretty nice difference I just hope comes to fruition. His pick of Wilson is estimated to bring in a few points more than my QB, Stafford, but the rest of my team looks a bit better – on paper.

I wonder how good these ESPN estimates are.

September's Featured Link

For the month of September, each day I am going to try linking to a post from one of the great sites I attempt to read on a daily basis.

Today, I feature a link to The Ancient Gaming Noob and Wilhelm Arcturus' article which talks about the Blaugust event and all the blogs that took part. TAGN has been around for quite a few years and Wilhelm has pretty much done the post-a-day thing for some time. I started reading his blog when I started playing Eve, and even though he fights for the evil CFC (I did at one time as well – then I wanted to play Eve rather than be played by The Mittani), I enjoy his posts on all manner of topics. His review of the Blaugust event covers it all and has links to the blogs that made it through – congrats to everyone on the list!
