Some Bugs Remember and Some Bite Hard

With the end of the year, there were many countdowns of various types and a couple drew my attention more than others.

Oh the Humanity

I’d say this was a clip of the Florida State team form the Rose Bowl, but that’d be a bit insulting to these poor kids…

Why didn’t the women holding the banner just drop it rather than letting the kids pile up? Those poor kids…

Caterpillars remember things when they turn into moths

This shocked me. I heard this on a podcast I listen to called This Week In Science and looked it up. To think that a simple caterpillar can retain memory through such a dramatic transition while I have a hard time remembering my passwords is incredible. Here’s the article from Discover Magazine.

Cho’Gath’s bite hurts

My second game with my new summoner was another win against the bots. Once again I went with Ashe and I did pretty well. I suffered more deaths, but handled her abilities much better and managed 12 kills. Once again though, I was partnered with someone who knew what they were doing. Garen and I took bot lane and started out poorly. In our greed, Garen gave up first blood to their Ashe because he chased her under their turret – I died shortly after, being executed because I thought Garen would last longer. Dumb move. At low level, those turrets hit hard.

But once we got that out of our systems, we started to roll. The Taric and Ashe bots were no match for us, and I didn’t die again till I had collected 6 kills. Then I ran into a monstrous Cho who got fed on Blitz. Well, Cho’s ultimate hurts and I was getting over half my hit points taken away each time he bit me. Coupled with his nasty silence, he proved the death of me a couple times.

Somewhere at level 12 Blitz went AFK, but it really didn’t matter – I didn’t notice until the game was almost over either. Why someone would leave a bot game is beyond me, it’s not like they were getting verbally abused by the bots or anything.

In any case, I ended the game 12/5/11/220 and reached summoner level 2. As far as learning, I think I need to work on my aggressiveness early game as Ashe – I should not be getting under their turret – it is not worth the risk of dying. I also need to be realistic about my survivability – I chased a Trundle and Ashe into the jungle when I was at half health – not the smartest thing in the game.

I think I am getting the hang of Ashe again and think I’ll continue to learn more as I level up this summoner.
