Fantasy Football Prep

Tomorrow is my fantasy football draft and I guess I have to call myself a veteran this season. Last year I didn't do too well and I don't expect to do much better this year. Football is not really my thing, but it's kinda the thing to do. So many people get aggro about their team or football in general and I prefer to do other things on Sunday. Baseball is my sport and if I do pay attention to football, I much prefer college ball to the pros.

As far as the NFL goes, I suppose my dislike is enhanced by the wonderful treatment the team in my city is giving its fans – they are doing everything conceivable to leave the town and move to Los Angeles. Personally, I say good riddance – one less sport team to pay attention to only because they are in the same town. If they really gave any kind of appreciation for their fans, they wouldn't be trying so hard to leave, but that's the way things go with the billionaire owners and millionaire players in the NFL. Funny, a couple years before they started lobbying to build a new taxpayer funded stadium, they were talking about how great it was to have the Super Bowl in San Diego, now they can't stop talking about how much public money they require to move in to a new stadium.

In any case, tomorrow, fantasy football draft, I am not prepared…

One of the things that I didn't understand last season was that quarterbacks are not all drafted first – it was the runningbacks that filled the first round. I suppose that's because you only get one QB and 2 RBs. Last year I had the last pick and ended up grabbing 2 wide receivers since that seemed to lock down that role for me, but little did I expect…injuries. In fantasy baseball, you'll get injuries but even if you have a guy end up on the 15 day DL, that's such a small part of the 162 game season. In football, an injury – which happens a lot because people are smashing into each other – can last a couple games and when you only 16 of them, that's a huge part of your season. In any case it sucks to get an injury and most likely, you'll have at least one.

Well, I'll end my first post after Blaugust here so I can do some research for the draft. If any of you are in leagues, I wish you luck and hope you and I both have few or no injuries this season.
