Freeways, Scrolls, Fantasy and Who

I work about 5 miles away from where I live and most days it's a pretty easy commute. I've got basically three ways to get there the freeway to the east of us, the freeway to the west of us, and the main surface street that goes north-south in our area. I usually don't take the surface road because for some reason there's always construction along it somewhere within the 5 miles that I have to drive to work. The freeways, on the other hand, are usually pretty good and go through pretty quickly so that it takes me anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes to get to work every day. Add a little rain to that and of course Southern California freeways turn into parking lots. It takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour now to traverse that 5 miles. It is really crazy. I don't know what's worse a little half inch of rain on a Southern California freeway or the 18 inches that they got in South Carolina for the hurricane the other day – though California would wash away if it ever got that much rain…in a month…or maybe even a year.

The Elder Scrolls on PS4

Many thanks to Talyn for explaining how to get screenshots and videos from my PS4 to my computer. It's pretty simple to use the USB drive, and voila, I have pictures from my adventures. I still need to work on the 'taking' part of the PS4 screenshots…

But I got better…

And better…

Soon I'll have the whole thing down. In the meantime, I am enjoying Elder Scrolls on the console and have ventured much further than I did on the PC.

Final Fantasy XIV

I got a few minutes to ramble a bit more in FFXIV and I finally got to use my abilities.

The Population Control quest had me running around right outside the city killing off fungi. And then I ran into my first Fate which seemed a lot like Rift's rift system. I like the mechanic in both games and hope all future MMOs continue to have something like it.

Dr. Who – Under the Lake

This week's episode of Dr. Who was a bit of a let down from the exciting Dalek adventure that filled the first 2 episodes of the season, and I'd have to say that Clara is not my favorite companion. This week, we encounter ghosts, and I was expecting a scary feel akin to how I'm always frightened with the Weeping Angels, but it was not to be. While the story is interesting, the episode just didn't grab me like so many have in the past – perhaps the second part of the story will get better. Interesting note, I watched this after The Leftovers premiere, and both had deaf characters in significant roles – glad to see the diversity.
