My March Marvel Madness

I think I mentioned the folks over at Comic Book Herald before, but for 2016, they are going through sets of Marvel comics for each year for the 50 some odd years that Marvel has been around – one year a week. Reading their selections has been a lot of fun and I've been keeping up with that for the most part but I wanted to get a little bit more in depth into some of the years. They're up to 1970 now.

What I've done, at least so far, is that for each weekday in the month of March I'm going through and looking at an issue in the Complete Marvel Reading Order, according to CMRO by Travis Starnes, and reading the next issue of whatever is in that reading order. This past week I read through four issues.

Three issues of the Fantastic Four – 1, 2, and 3 and Tales to Astonish #27 which featured Ant-Man. It's been pretty fun so far and I'm really enjoying getting to know some of the history of the Marvel Universe. As I mentioned previously I wish DC had a similar feature to Marvel Unlimited but so far they don't.

These four books that I read may have cost about a total of $.50 when they originally came out but they would cost significantly more if I bought them in paper format now. Buying them digitally they cost about 2 to 3 bucks a piece. Fortunately Marvel Unlimited allows me to read any of the early Marvel comics all for one yearly subscription price.

I love it and that's why I'm going through Marvel and not DC. We'll see how long this lasts but for now I'm on number 4 going on the number 5'and still working through 1962 in the complete marvel reading order. It's a lot of fun.

I'm looking forward to Spiderman, the X-Men, and the Avengers in coming years.
