My Week in TV

This was a fun week of TV with Penny Dreadful coming back along with the return of Jon Snow, and I got to see Deadpool finally. It’s an interesting time with some beginnings and many shows continuing.

New shows I watched this week include Alone, The Night Manager, Penny Dreadful, and 12 Monkeys, and of course Deadpool, and I actually enjoyed all of them. The Night Manager is interesting…kinda like a suspenseful thriller…aka Bourne Identity. I can see it proving to be a fun watch, and I definitely enjoyed the first episode (I’ve already got 3 more recorded so I plan on continuing the show).

Penny Dreadful started up and was a blast. We meet Dr. Jekyll, but the main characters from previous seasons are all scattered to the four corners of the planet. Bringing everyone back together will be an interesting task this season…and we meet Renfield so Dracula can’t be too far away. I’m looking forward to future episodes.

12 Monkeys was good…I watched the season opener…and it seemed to build upon the mystery of the Witness from last season. And speaking of mysteries, we finally see Jon Snow come back to life in episode 2 of the Game of Thrones…and Bran is back. So much fun!

Last Man on Earth seems to have really lost steam and much of my interest – definitely a sophomore slump, but I think The Flash is still going well…I knew Wally West would get some speed powers eventually. Bates Motel is still going strong as I watched episode 7 and Norman finds out his mother and the sherif are married. There are just so many shows I’m enjoying right now…my poor TiVo is straining under the load.
Looking back at my week, I’d have to come up with this as my list of favorites:
5) The Americans Ep. 6

4) The Night Manager Ep. 1

3) Penny Dreadful

2) Deadpool

1) Game of Thrones Ep. 2

I didn’t even mention Alone, of which I watched the first two episodes and I’m both surprised by how quickly someone left in episode 1 and how no one left in the second episode. I think episode 3 will see a few quitters though.
In any case, it was a good week of television watching for me.
