I Want My 2 Hours Back…

Ok…I did it…I watched Fantastic Four…the one from 2015…can I have my time back?

I guess it was good to watch in the sense I should watch examples of what is bad so I can better understand what is good. I’m just so glad it was a reboot – it’s not like we needed 40 minutes of pointless backstory that had nothing to do with anything except to create another origin that as far as I know had nothing to do with the comic. I mean, the Fantastic Four have been a staple in comics since the 60s and as far as I know, they’ve always been a ‘family’. This had no sense of family except I guess Sue was adopted, but she and Johnny showed no sense of having grown up together.

I got no sense of the drive of Doctor Doom either, except…he was pissed about climate change?  Really?  I mean, don’t villains want to take over the world or something?  No…this one wants to stop climate change by sucking the Earth into a black hole. I’m sure that’ll work real well.

And thank god they only figured out how to build a teleporter in thier garage…these ‘kids’ which they kept being referred to, though I never got the sense they were ‘kids’…seemingly would have set off a nuclear bomb if that would have made them famous.

So it seems that the moral of the story is…do anything to be famous and do anything to stop climate change but don’t trust any government organization. I suppose that theme would resonate with some subset of society, but obviously not many.  Perhaps the next installment of the Fantastic Four can focus on a real story rather than trying to make a political statement…maybe more people would be interested.

  1. I heard nothing at all good about it, so I didn’t bother. I also didn’t see the Silver surfer one from back in the day either. But with that said, I kinda liked the 1st one.
