Four out of Six Degrees

Well I managed to salvage a bit of my post from last week before my computer died.  I was in the process of putting together my six degrees post and am still dealing with the repercussions of my dead laptop.  In any case, here is my journey of four of the six sites I was going to visit.  I’m sure I’ll get back to normal soon and hopefully I’ll have a working computer too.

Pleasant Gamer – NBI 2016 – It’s Fine

I’m not 100% certain if this is a Newbie blog or a Supporter blog, but it really doesn’t matter since it is related to the Newbie Blogger Initiative just like all the rest this week. Zyngor posts about the history of the Pleasant Gamer blog and how it is good to post at whatever schedule you chose, and I totally agree. There are many of those supporting the NBI that post on a daily schedule and many who post on a monthly or weekly schedule. There no requirements and that is part of what make blogging enjoyable for me. I can do what I want, whenever I want. The only person I am accountable to in this endeavor is myself and I choose not to stress about posting schedules, I try to be like Nike…Just Do It.

A to Zeo – What do you mean I’m not kind? Not your king maybe…

Zeo over at A to Zeo puts out another newbie post about game hopping and reasons they’ve bounced from game to game and guild to guild. I can totally sympathize. It seems that raiding eventually becomes a primary goal of a lot of guilds in various MMOs, and I’ve never been one for raiding. Zeo has talks about doing some guild raiding in LOTRO and WoW, but getting frustrated with it. How do you find a good guild that just wants to game together and not have the sole goal of defeating raid content? I’ve stuck with Alea Iacta Est on the Earthen Ring server for quite a few years, but I don’t participate in any of the raid groups…They’re just such a large guild, they have room for all kinds – those that want to raid hardcore and those who just want to casually game with a friendly group. Hopefully Zeo will find a similar guild that meets his liking so he can play the games he wants the way he wants to.

I’m Not Squishy – Diablo 3 Platinumed

Kluwes has been playing Diablo 3 for a while and discusses efforts at reaching the Platinum achievement on the PS4. I’ve never heard of Platinuming a game, but apparently if you finish off all the achievements in a game on the PS4, you attain the Platinum achievement. I suppose I’ve never heard of it since I hardly ever get more than a couple of the trophies in any of the games I play…I’ve just not focused on collecting achievements though I love it when I DO get them. In any case, I’m glad to have read this article because it made me realize that Diablo 3 has a “couch” co-op available on the PS4. I’m gonna have to take advantage of this since I’m always looking for games to try out with Mrs. Redshirt – and I think she’ll enjoy Diablo.

As far as Platinuming goes, Kluwes had to get 6 characters to level 70 and collect 500 bounties as the final trophies, which was accomplished and checked off the bucket list.

Shadowz Gaming Blog – NBI2016 – My ideal game

Shadowz responds to the the writing prompt last week and looks at his ideal game. And he’s actually found it. Unfortunately though, it’s come and gone. Shadowz enjoyed LARPing. Live action role playing can be a lot of fun with the right group, just as MMOs can be fun with a good guild or a tabletop game can be fun with a good adventure group. Shadowz talks about going from LARP to tabletop to forums to websites and chat rooms but then watching as the Internet bubble implosion took down all the tools it once promised. So with his perfect game gone, he discusses the concepts required to make a new game he would think was ideal. It’s a pretty good discussion.
