Stranger Things, Blaugust, and Beyond Bossfights

End of Blaugust

I wanted to send congratulations to everyone who participated in Blaugust this year. I had fun and am still going through the six degrees of people involved…I figure I’ll keep going till I touch all of them. It’s been a crazy month, but I’m glad to see so many blogs participate. And I liked the relaxed version…not too much pressure on anyone this year…see you all next year.

Stranger Things gets Season 2

I just heard this morning that Stranger Things has been picked up by Netflix for a second season. The Duffer brothers are onboard, but no casting has been announced yet. With the ties to Steven King, John Carpenter, and Steven Spielberg for season 1, it would be kinda cool to see a different trio of story tellers emulated in the next season, though more of the same would be cool too – there are plenty of tales to tell.

Beyond Bossfights – Anxiety

I just listened to the most recent episode of Beyond Bossfights with Braxwolf, and it was really good. They covered Anxiety and gaming and his guests, Andang and Professor Beej, brought some interesting insights into the discussion. One concept that particularly drew my attention was – how do you know you are enjoying a game you are playing if you are yelling and cursing at the computer? When displaying behavior that gives evidence that you don’t like something, how do you claim to be enjoying it? I think this is where I am at with League of Legends. I like the concept of the game, but the reality of it is…the game just makes me frustrated and angry.

Is this really what I want to be doing with me free time?

Do I get relaxation out of this or do I recharge my batteries by playing this game?

I’m thinking the answer is no.

Particularly when I experience a run of matches where people just don’t care about ranked play and have no problem bringing down 4 other teammates with them.

In any case, give the episode a listen, it’s really good.
