6° 2.0 Episode 2 – 4th Degree – Casual Aggro

I’ve been reading Casual Aggro since 2012 when we both went through our first Newbie Blogger Initiative so it’s appropriate that he’s involved with Blaugust again.

Casual Aggro – Rocking a Flip Phone in the Age of the Smartphone

Big Mikey Ocho had a broken phone and had to get a replacement, but this story is pretty interesting. They wouldn’t give him an exact replacement right away so he had to go for a week with a flip phone. Wow – it’s been over 8 years that I’ve had an iPhone of one flavor or another, so I can sympathize with Mikey. Even before then, I had an awesome computing device called the NZ90, but then Sony cancelled their Clié product line. In any case, it seems like forever that I have had the web, spreadsheets, notebooks, and a camera on my hip, and I can understand the difficulty of going without for even just a week.

The story of AT&T and their ‘wonderful’ customer service, the realization of everything we use our phones for these days, and the critique of rude people using their phones in obnoxious ways is definitely something you should take a look at.

This post went up at the end of Blaugust so hopefully Big Mikey Ocho has his smartphone back by now and has rejoined modern times.

  1. I have! It wasn’t the end of the world, obviously, but dang did I miss my smartphone. 😛 The one really good thing about the flip phone was the battery life, though. Charged it when I first got it, and before it even dropped a single bar of charge, I had already received my replacement a week later. Heck, the thing may still be at 100% for all I know.
