Rambling About Wonder Woman Rebirth and SKT vs RNG

Today I took a look at the new Wonder Woman comic that’s part of DC’s Rebirth and the second round of the League of Legends quarterfinals featuring SKT and RNG.  Will the semifinals be full of teams from Korea or will China make an appearance with RNG?

Wonder Woman: Rebirth

20161015-wonderwomanrebirth1This comic lists as a number 1 issue, but I’m not really sure there’s gonna be a second, at least there hasn’t in the months since it first came out. Instead, it’s the start of the new Wonder Woman series in the DC Rebirth story arc.

I enjoyed the issue but I’m not sure I’m sold on the ‘either/or’ story telling style. I suppose it’s because I haven’t read any Wonder Woman comics before. All I know of the hero is what I watched on TV many years ago and her breif appearance in Batman Vs Superman. Because of that, I don’t know much of her origin story so I just got a bit confused by the multiple choice options for how she came to be Themyscria’s champion.

I do like the theme of searching for the truth though. I get the feeling that the truth is going to be real important not just for Wonder Woman, but also the entire DC Rebirth storyline. Somehow, something changed the DC universe and figuring it out is gonna be huge and if the Wonder Woman series is gonna be a big part of finding the answers, I’m definitely gonna keep reading it.

SKT vs RNG

The first game of this matchup was pretty good. I was impressed by how RNG came out of the gates swinging for SKT, and they won. Rather, they kept pressure on SKT and let them make a couple of small mistakes. This first game came down to a couple early mistakes, and SKT almost came back too.

The second and third games played out much more as expected. SKT pretty much dominated, so much so that in game 3, SKT were able to overcame a huge gold deficit to come back and take a 2 games to 1 lead heading into the final match.

One thing I’ve liked seeing in these games is the presence of Zyra. She’s of course my favorite champ but I don’t think I’ve ever seen her in professional play. It was good to see that she was considered a viable pick, and she made some pretty decent plays in the games she was in.

I’ll watch the rest of the games later and comment tomorrow.
