Another 5k

This week I left the Miracle Mile behind and just ran a standard 5k for my Saturday run. The 11:43 pace is faster than I’d like, but I felt real good and my run-walk technique had me feeling like I coulda run another 5.  


I’m still finding it interesting that I’m able to run at an 11:43 pace when I have walk breaks where I’m going at a 16-20 min/mile pace, but it works.  

Beats

Along with running at a decent pace, I’m doing pretty well with my heart rate…I think.  The 180 BPM is higher than I’ve done before but I think it’s because of an early spike as I started out this morning.  For the most part, my beats per minute were lower than they’ve been in previous runs.  142 is right in the middle of my aerobic zone and where I want it to be.

Training Effect

The Training Effect is based on heart rate and shows I’m improving.  Last week I was above 4.5 which indicates highly improving, but the 3.7 from today’s run is pretty good and since I feel better this week after my run, I think this is where I want things.  I’m gonna spend some time this week learning about this Training Effect so I can figure out what I need to be targeting to keep this improving.
