First Xbox One Impressions

I have to say that while I am NOT a fan of Micro$oft, they know how to build a gaming network.  I fully expected my first try at playing a game with my new Xbox One S would take a while.  Mostly, I based that expectation on the extraordinarily long download and patch times that I get with the PS4.

Even when I buy a game for my PS4 on the day it’s released, there’s always a patch.  And that patch takes hours to download – even using an Ethernet connection to the PS4. It’s to the point, I expect that whenever a patch comes out for a game, I need to start the update and let the PS4 download and install it at least overnight.  Most times, I’ll get a time estimate of at least 12-30 hours.

So with my Xbox One, I totally expected that I’d be still waiting to play a game, while it downloads.  Nope.

The Xbox installed and updated my Diablo III game in less than 30 minutes. I was still flipping through the different interface cards trying to see all the different feature on the Xbox and it was done.

And that was over WiFi.

Based on that alone, I’m an Xbox fan over the PS4.

It doesn’t matter what exclusive games you have or how good the graphics are, if you can’t play the games, it’s pointless.  The PS4 network is horrible and makes the console so much worse than it has to be.
