84k Damage

Los Angeles Chargers?

Wow! Not that I really give a crap about professional football or most anything the NFL does, but I’m pretty sure they’ve solidified their villainous, money-grubbing, traitorous, evil, and fan-hating ways again today with the 3rd team move in less than 2 years. Do they really wonder why television ratings were down? Perhaps it’s the games on tv everyday? Or maybe the fact that the same 5–6 teams compete every year while the rest of the league tries to pick up the scraps? Or maybe its the fact that they glamorize the death blows that their top players take every week…oh, not every week since they only play 16 games a year. What ever it is, they have flipped off the fans of another large American city while they’re trying to get more games played in Europe and Mexico.

In any case, the NFL is gone from San Diego and I say good riddance. Perhaps it’ll make things a little more exciting in LA to see the teams compete for draft picks, but neither of the LA teams look to have any hope of being even a decent team in the foreseeable future. Perhaps if you combined the wins from both teams you’d get a team that would have barely missed out on the wildcard. Perhaps if billionaire owners spent more time improving their team rather than looking for the next city to fleece they’d have a hope of being on the desireable side of .500.

Oh well…more reason to not care about the NFL.

84k Damage to Champions

That was a crazy game that I’m surprised we won. With a 7–16 ADC and a 7–12 Jungler I thought for sure we were not gonna pull it off. Luckily though, our Ezreal mid and Darius top were able to make up for jungle and mid and I was able to put out 84,730 damage to champions to carry us to victory.

I had 18k more damage than anyone else in the game, and I was support. Sure, Zyra does a lot of damage, but I don’t think I’ve ever done that much before. I even made more gold than anyone in the game. But where do I spend all that money? I ended up grabbing a Guardian Angel since fights usually ended with everyone dying except me – I wanted to make sure I stayed alive as much as possible. In addition to that, for some reason, I decided early on that I was going to pick up a Rod of Ages for some staying power – their team had Alistar, Garen, and Poppy so I thought a bit of HP would even out the sustainability for our team who’s tankiest champ was Darius.

I guess I made the right decisions because we won after 54 minutes of tense gameplay.

Journey Into Mystery #84 – The Mighty Thor vs. The Executioner

Journey Into Mystery #84
Journey Into Mystery Issue 84 By Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Joe Sinnott, Larry Lieber, Dick Ayers, and Artie Simek. Published by Marvel Comics 1962.

After a quick retelling of his origin, Dr. Blake heads to San Diablo to join a volunteer medical mission to help the sick and injured from the revolutionary fighting. His nurse Jane Foster joins him but before they can get to the South American country, The Executioner sends his jets to sink their boat. He didn’t count on Thor being on the ship and the planes are quickly dispatched. Once in San Diablo, Dr. Blake must again turn into Thor to deal with “commie tanks” that are sent to stop the Americans. At every step, Thor thwarts The Executioner and eventually the democratic army shows up and the bad guy meets his end.

It’s a basic story with lots of flavor from the 60s – banana republic dictators, communists, and humanitarian missions. The main focus of the tale, though is to introduce Jane Foster, a love interest for Dr. Blake. It seems that many of these early Marvel comics suffer from the same problem – villains that are one dimensional and have no character. I wonder how long this will continue and hope that there are soon more bad guys similar to the fleshed out Doctor Doom or Submariner.

I’ll rate this comic a C, but I do like Thor so far.
