Success…Finally

Destiny Journal Entry #7: I did it!

Each day in Destiny I learn something new.  The last few days I had learned how tough Hallowed Knights could be and how many waves of bad guys it would take for me to die.

Today I figured out how to kill my current nemesis.

It didn’t start out that way though.

Since the last story mission I played was the same as the one I wanted to defeat today, the game let me start right in the middle of the fight.  No defeating the trash on the way or running through the twisting corridors.

The problem with that though, was I started with depleted supplies.

I really wish they replenished ammo after you died and reset.  I mean, I had even logged out and went to work and still I had low ammo.  Anyway, I ran out during the fight again…

So…I looked up how to replenish ammo and I guess there’s some kind of “run out and wait 30 seconds” mechanic.  That’s great, but I didn’t have 30 seconds to wait. I also learned that I could run patrols and other non-story missions and I could then come back at the same spot in the story mission.  So I went to orbit to find a patrol where I could top off my ammo.

I got this neat mission with a couple others to take out a walker…

This guy was big, hit hard, and had what seemed to be – millions of hit points. Thank goodness he didn’t move much or very fast.  I had a couple of other teammates and the 3 of us took him down after about 10 minutes. I also go all my ammo topped off.

The nice thing about fighting that Walker was that he dropped some gear so I upgraded.

I was now rocking a Gozen-C sniper rifle…

A Jigoku SR2-SL scout rifle…

And put on a Night Rain hunters cloak for some exa defense.

So now I headed back into the Last Array mission prepared to kick butt.

And I did it in one try.

Actually, it seemed a bit anticlimactic after all the struggles I had getting to the point where I could beat him, but it was done.

I’m sure there will be other more difficult challenges in the future, but this one was hard fought and I feel I accomplished something.
