#2017MMM : The Final Roar

The first battle of the Final Roar feature the winners of the Desert Adapted Mammals and the Two Animal One Mammal divisions – the Honey Badger vs the Spider Monkey. These are two pretty fierce combatants but they face off on unfamiliar terrain, the High Creek Fen Preserve outside of Denver, Colorado.

The watery fen causes some havoc as the arena but the contestants manage to face each other after a bit of fumbling around. And…the Monkey, realizing that the Honey Badger means business tries to scramble away…but can’t escape the furious Badger…there are no trees.  Who makes short work on the primate. So much for the prehensile tail.

The second fight takes place in an appropriate location…the Great Bear Rainforest along the Pacific Coast of British Columbia. This is the scene of the Bear vs Bear battle. The Spectacled vs Short-faced Bear-off.

While these guys are cousins they’re not beyond fighting to advance in the tournament…March Mammal Madness takes precedence over blood…so the fight is on. It’s a truly epic battle. These guys have huge paws and deadly claws and bites that will crush. And even though the Short-faced Bear is extinct, he reaches out from the grave of prehistory and puts the smackdown on his Spectacled kin. Round two of the Final Roar finishes with the Short-faced Bear supreme.

So the Championship battle will feature two behemoths…the Indomitable Honey Badger vs the Steadfast Short-faced Bear. Either one can prove victorious, it in the end, only one won’t care. I’m pulling for the still extant Honey Badger but am looking forward to a great battle.
