Registration, Parking, and Missing an Auction

Morning Ramble for March 28th, 2017 in which I get an email about Comic-Con Open Registration, another about Comic-Con Parking, and miss the second auction deadline for one of my fantasy baseball leagues.

Things have been pretty busy lately and I’ve been struggling to keep up on email. I’m actually working to get to Inbox Zero, but man-o-man is that difficult. Not that I have a bunch of emails I need to respond to, but I get a bunch that I have information I want to read about, videos I want to watch, or other stuff I’ve signed up for because I’m interested in expanding my knowledge about all kinds of things. If only I had the time to get through all those emails – right now, I’m marking them to be read and archiving them, but space is finite and I’ll have to make decisions to cull them eventually. This swamp of emails is part of the reason I didn’t get to my fantasy baseball auction – so I’ve had to prioritize messages from the league so I don’t miss out on the 3rd deadline later this week. I’m just happy I haven’t missed out on any email about Comic-Con so far.

Comic-Con Open Registration

San Diego Comic-Con has announced the date for Open Registration and that date is…April 8th. At 9:00 am, tickets will go on sale again and I’ll be in the waiting room hoping to pick up Preview Night tickets. At least since I only need Preview Night, I won’t have to stick around long even if I don’t get the tickets.

I’m a bit confused by the last sentence in the image – they will announce the date and time of Open Registration at least 72 hours prior to the sale…kinda seems like they’re making that date and time announcement in the image.

Comic-Con Parking

I signed up for the lottery for Comic-Con parking. Ace Parking is running things again this year and they’ll be placing people into random groups for timed purchases as they did last year. I didn’t get into a group last year but was able to grab decent parking when it was opened to the public…rather people who were unlucky in the lottery. Hopefully I’ll get into a group and possibly get to park a little closer to where I want to be this time around.

Missed Auction 2 of 3

Well, this’ll be an interesting year in my Mendoza Baseball league as I missed the 2nd auction deadline. I had a few players I had made bids on early in the process, but was outbid as the auction close neared. Oh well, I’m thinking I can make up for it during the 3rd auction. As things stand right now, I’ve got 3 pretty good starting pitchers but missed out on a couple I was targeting for the 2nd auction. There are plenty to choose from though, in the 3rd. I also need to target a catcher since the one I’ve got won’t play all 162 games – not many catchers do. Other than that, I need to try to pick up a few reserves and see if there’s any minor leaguers I can grab for cheap. It’s a deep league (20 teams and 40 possible players?) and you can keep players for quite a while…since I took over a team that did well last year, most of my current players are in the last year of their contracts so I need to retool as well as try to win this season. It’ll be fun but difficult to balance things.
