Plans for April 2017

Yesterday I went over my goals for March and how I well I accomplished them…kinda middle of the road.  March Mammal Madness kinda took over the month and I didn’t get everything done I wanted to.  For April, I’m gonna set a similar series of goals and we’ll see how things go in gaming, reading, comics, and all kinda of stuff.

Nioh

Even though this game keeps kicking my butt, I am enjoying it. I actually made it out of the Tower of London in my last play session so I have a couple of posts to put together describing my spectacular gameplay…actually, I continue to die a lot. I finally found a listing of some of the missions and even though I planned to get through the Kyushu region in March, I barely made it out of London. With that in mind and with the realization that there are 10 different missions in that starting region, 3 of which are mandatory to progress, I don’t think I’llA complete the region in April, but I’ll see what I can do. I’m not a very fast power gamer so I feel pretty safe to say I’ll be stuck in the Kyushu region for a bit if the 60–80 hour game time estimate is correct…it’ll probably take me more like 240 hours to get through the game at the pace I usually go – if I ever finish. But no…I WILL FINISH.

Destiny

I’ve had this game on the back burner for about 6 weeks now so I think it’s time to make some progress. My goal for April is the same as I had for March… to advance the story to Venus, and I gotta get rolling on this game since they’ve announce Destiny 2 is coming out in September…6 months to finish this installment before the next one drops.

MLB: The Show

This is a new game I just picked up. I am an avid baseball fan but haven’t played much in the way of baseball simulation games since way back when…I think I mentioned Earl Weaver Baseball. In any case, I picked this up, now that I have so much space for games on my external HD and I want to give this a shot. I’m not really sure what to expect but I’ve heard its a good series…one of the best as far as current sports games go. I’m not really gonna set any kind of goal for this game other than to start it though since I don’t know what to really expect.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

I’ve heard a lot about how great this game is and fear that if I don’t start playing more of the new releases, I’ll just keep getting further and further behind. There seems to be a ton of really good games coming out, so much so that something like NieR:Automata is rated 88 on Metacritic but it’s not even on my radar yet and forget about the new Zelda – I’m still on the waiting list for a Switch. Anyway, I really want to start this game so I’m putting it on my list for April.

MLB/Fantasy Baseball

The 2017 MLB season starts this month and while I don’t have any illusions about how well my team will do, I am excited for things to get going. In reality, the season the Angels won the World Series, no one thought they’d do very well either, so you never know…perhaps they’ll win it all this year. That hope and the fact I’m in 4 fantasy leagues certainly encourages me to pay some attention to what’s going on in MLB this year.

Books

I read a ton of books in March and plan on getting through a bunch in April as well. Right now I am finishing of a biography of Charles Lindbergh, the first biography I’ve read a in a very long time, but it’s really good. It almost reads like a novel with all the interesting events that Lindberg went through in his lifetime. I’m also scheduled to read a horror novel – I’m not usually keen on these, but for my Mysterious Galaxy Book Club, we’re reading Bram Stoker Award winner A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay this month. Not sure if I’m looking forward to it, but…it won an award so it should be a good read. I also want to keep up with my Asimov reading so I’ve lined up The Robots of Dawn to keep advancing in Foundation & Empire. That should be 3 books which was my goal last month, but I might be able to throw another in since I’m halfway done with Lindbergh.

Comics

My Comic-Con Book Club is reading a few different things this month but both are related to the new Riverdale TV show. We’re reading Archie – the 2015 version written by Mark Waid and Fiona Staples and the Atferlife with Archie series written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Francesco Francavilla, and Jack Morelli. I’ve never read any Archie comics before but they’ve gotta be good considering they’ve been around for decades.

So there it is…I think this’ll be a busy month. I also want to get back into a running and fitness program. I think I’m gonna hold off on planning a race though and just plan on building up a good base of fitness.
