Morning Ramble 389: Freeway Running and Blood Magic

Morning Ramble 389: Freeway Running and Blood Magic

Just a quick little ramble today since I seem to have run outta time to put my post together. I make some advances in Secret World Legends and I found a clip of one of my favorite movies, Bowfinger.

Secret World Legends: Wheel into Tree

Playing The Secret World, it was a leap to understand and work with the ability wheel. I grew accustomed to it though and figured out how things fit together and how abilities complimented each other. Things are different in Secret World Legends. You actually level up in this game and it’s a bit weird. You have character level, AP points, and SP.

So far I haven’t figured out how the character level fits in other than kinda giving you an idea of what places you should feel comfortable playing in. Ability points and Skill points seem to be somewhat similar in that they are applied to skills and abilities to increase what you can do. The big change I see is that it’s more difficult to mix and match things to make the character you want…particularly for players who are just starting out in SWL. Players who migrated their accounts from TSW have the various weapon tress opened up while those who are brand new have to open them through actual or ingame money.

For now, I went with Blood Magic as my primary weapon and advancing through the tutorial and getting to the Sheriff’s station in Kingsmouth, I attained a few abilities. Torment, Dread Sigil, and Reap are all part of the focus of the tutorial. These give you a decent set of abilities to do damage and take down the bad guys. Torment does standard single target damage but it’s Dread Sigil that I currently have assigned to my Left Mouse Button. This spell drops an AOE sigil that smacks everything inside a 5 meter radius. I have been pretty much spaming this and haven’t even tried using my Assault Rifle abilities nor other Blood Magic skills yet. But then I’m just starting out.

Bowfinger

This weekend as I was bouncing around the numerous channels on my cable, not feeling like watching anything from my TiVo, I stumbled upon one of my favorite movies of all time…Bowfinger. This movie stars Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin and is basically Ed Wood meeds Scientology. Essentially, a small time down and out director makes a movie with a huge star (aka Tom Cruise), but the star doesn’t realize he’s making the movie, the director just secretly films him. All the while, the actor is attending a ‘church’ that has pretty much brainwashed him. It’s a really fun movie and one that will always make me laugh. The scene I came in on, which happens to be one of the most insane, is a scene where Kit, ‘Eddie Murphy’s brother’ has to run across a freeway. Here it is from YouTube…

If you’ve seen the movie, you know how great it is and if you haven’t – go watch it, you won’t regret it.
