Plans for September 2017

Daily Ramble #12: Plans for September

On this first day of September my rambling mind heads to planning and trying to figure out what I’d like to do this month.

MMOs

My main MMO right now is Albion and I’m having a lot of fun figuring out the crafting and money making methods in the game. So far, I’ve been running as a Pyromancer using a Great Fire Staff but I think I’m gonna look to expand my horizons this month by working on healing. I usually prefer healing in MMOs and I figure with Destiny 2 coming out, I’ll have my DPS needs fulfilled. As for ingame goals, I’m looking to skill up to Tier 5 weapons and armor – that means getting through 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 since I’m still sitting at basic Tier 4.

The Secret World/Legends and LOTRO are my backup MMOs right now. I’ve let them slip a bit the past few months, but I’m hoping to have some opportunity to put some time in and advance the stories in both. I actually looked up the different trait lines for my Minstrel the other day but when I fired up the game, it took too long to patch itself and I decided to go back to Albion. I’ll do a better job of keeping things up to date so if I want to play it wont take so long in the future.

Comics

I’m inching ever so close to the DC Rebirth issue that I might just make it in September. I’m planning on reading the Superman: Lois and Clark Road to Rebirth run and hopefully get through the Final Days of Superman crossover which will set me up with one more series – Titans Hunt – before Rebirth starts. I’ll get there eventually. As it stands, I read a bunch of comics to start off August and then slowed down as the month continued on. I want to keep my pace over the entire month of September. I think part of my trouble was that I got glasses in the middle of the month and I’ve been having to get used to reading under them as I walk. Yes – I read comics as I walk during my breaks at work. With the glasses, I have to get used to changing how I read so it’s slowed me way down – I actually have to pay attention now.

As for my other comics reading, September is 2007 for Comic Book Herald’s My Marvelous Year so I might try to read through World War Hulk along with them as well as continue through 1963 in my pursuit of reading all Marvel comics…yeah right. Somehow, I’m gonna have to organize my comic book reading a bit better…the Rebirth stuff works pretty well and the stuff that Comic Book Herald is doing makes sense, and the 1963 thing, but I also read other books but they’re all kinda scattered about…I’ll figure something out.

Oh yeah, for my Comic-Con Graphic Novel Book Club, we’re going through Girls volume 1 and Saga volume 3 this month so I’m sure I’ll get through those in September.

Books

I’ve finally found a way to listen to Robots & Empire by Isaac Asimov (thank you YouTube) and I’m powering through it. With that getting done, I’ll clear the way to move forward with my Asimov project and finally make some progress again. For the Mysterious Galaxy Book Club near my house, I’ve signed up to read Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden and since I grabbed the book on sale from Amazon, I’m gonna read Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life by William Finnegan to catch up on some Goodreads History Book Club reading. Finally, the last book I’ll commit to trying to get through during the month is Arcadia by Iain Pears for the Goodreads SciFi & Fantasy Book Club since one of the moderators said it’s among their top 5 books of all time – pretty high praise…we’ll see.

MOBAs

I am now sitting at level 29 AND A HALF in SMITE and I will get up to 30 in September. Ranked play is so close, I can taste it. I’m also taking the time to make SMITE my primary MOBA focus. I’m just so tired of playing ranked in League and getting paired with teammates who are trying out a new champ or role – at least in my mind, those things are for normal mode, not ranked. I’ve just become so disillusioned with League that I at least need some time off to reset my frame of reference. I may come back, but I just feel like I’ve been burned too many times in League lately that I really need a break.

Other/Single Player/Non-MMO Games

With Destiny 2 releasing in a few days, I expect I’ll be spending a bit of time this month focused on that game. I enjoyed what I played in the first installement and I think if I start this one up at release, it’ll help me move along faster since I’ll be with everyone else. I don’t expect to speed level like so many do but at least I’ll be in the pack. Look for a bunch of posts related to this game in September.

I’ve also been enjoying Fortnite so I’ll probably level up some more there but now I’m seeing that I’ve got a bunch of stuff planned for the month and it’s only got 30 days after all.

Wow…yeah…Now that I’m looking at my plans, I might be a bit over committing, but we’ll see at the end of the month I guess. I hope you’re September is a fun one like I think mine will be.
