Gathering Grind

Daily Ramble #14: Gathering Grind

Today I realized that if I was going to move forward with my plan to become a healer in Albion, I would have to start crafting some healing staves. I’m gonna craft these things since they seem to be pretty expensive on the auction house, costing $30k or more for a basic Tier IV staff.

My current target for healing staff is the Adept’s Druidic Staff. Sure, I need to find some Druidic Inscriptions to make the Druid staff, but first I need to at least be able to craft a Tier IV Nature Staff. In order to craft Adept Nature Staves, I need to reach the first level of Nature Staff Crafter of which I’ve got 540 fame stored up…not very much.

To level up, I need to craft Journeyman’s Nature Staves, and I think I need 77 of them to fully reach the 14k fame needed to achieve my crafting goals. Or I could craft a bunch fewer and use learning points…we’ll see how that goes, 77 is quite a few staves.

So today, I’m off to Russerdell to chop down the wood I need for my staves.

I only had 30 minutes this morning to grab wood and materials, but I got a bunch. Enough to craft 15 staves. This is gonna take a few days if I’m only gonna be able to gather for 30 minutes at a time. Based on my first run – over 2 hours just to gather. But that’s part of the fun of this game – I know I can make anything I need in the game. It might take a bit of a grind to get there, but I’ll be self sufficient and able to replace anything I might lose in the long run.

That last will be important as I level up and start entering the PvP zones. I’m not sure, but I think Tier 4 is the last level where you can gather all the mats in safe zones. Tier 5 requies runs into dangerous zones where you can get ganked and since Albion is a full loot game – you can lose all your gear.

In any case, I’ll be able to get my crafting leveled up in a couple hours/days and soon I’ll be able to make my Druid staff to advance in healing.
