The Starts

Daily Ramble 18: The Starts

Today was a day of starts. I finally installed and got rolling in Destiny 2 and enjoyed the half hour I had the opportunity to play this morning.  So far things are pretty action packed and I can’t wait to get more play in.  Today is also the start of the NFL season so Fantasy Football begins.

Starting out in Destiny 2

So far Destiny 2 seems quite a bit like the original Destiny. There are many more story elements in the new version, however, which seems to draw me into the game more. One thing I liked about the original was sort of the episodic nature where we spent a lot of time hovering in my craft above whatever planet I’m dealing with. So far in the first half hour of Destiny 2, the action has been nonstop and it’s hard to tell where I can take a break when I need to leave for work or something. I paused and hope that I didn’t lose any progress.

As for my character, I decided to try out a Warlock as my first character again. In the original game my first character was also a Warlock but I ended up rolling with a Hunter mostly. With the newness of the Warlock, I a bit at a loss for what abilities I have. While the game does provide a little comment here or there on how to use the different controls such as grenades, melee, or my ultimate, there wasn’t really much in the way of explanation of what my ultimate did. That’s fine for now, because the cooldown is so much quicker I than the first game that I can actually use it more than once in a drawnout fight so I can actually see what it’s doing.

Starting the Fantasy Football Season

With my start to Destiny 2 underway, There was also another start today…NFL. I kinda got dragged into the fantasy league I’ve been in the past few years since I’m really not that interested in the professional sport. Give me NCAA football any day over the high paid crybabies of the NFL. Fortunately, since the draft was earlier this week, I had laid out my preferred lineup for the week because I didn’t realize the season started today until after the game started – I already had 2 players and the KC defense slotted to lay for me this week and I did pretty well. 34.8 points isn’t too bad for – few guys, at least I’m winning 34.8 to 10.7, and I was playing against the team with the #1 cheater in the NFL. 10.7 sucks for him, I wonder if he forgot to start cheating with the first game of the season?

Also this year, I’m in a Pick’em where I have to choose the winner of each game and somehow score points to win each week. Well, I didn’t get my pick in for the first game and at the time I wasn’t worried since I was probably gonna pick KC over the Patriots, it then they won! I would have gotten points! Oh well, I just have to make all my weekend picks count. I’ll let you know.
