Making Progress While Destiny 2 Stalls

Daily Ramble 25: Making Progress While Destiny 2 Stalls

The past few days I’ve tried to get some playtime together in Destiny 2 but keep running into obstacles.  While that’s stalled my progress in the game, it’s let me go back and focus on other games where I can keep moving forward.  In Albion, I’m looking for ways to make money and increase my item levels so I can start to group up for higher level content.  In Smite I went ahead with my plan from yesterday to allow the RNG gods of Assault to decide which god was gonna be my next to work towards mastery level 1 on.  With these two games allowing forward movement, I’m pretty happy, I just can’t wait till Destiny 2 gives me the same opportunity.

Destined to Not Play Destiny 2

As happy as I am to have Destiny 2 to play, I’ve not been able to play much. Sadly, it’s mostly because whenever I seem to find the time to play, there’s something wrong with it…a couple days ago, the servers were down all morning so I couldn’t get on during my usually available time. Then yesterday, there was a new patch.

Destiny 2 - Application Update
Yes, the PlayStation has gone back to it’s slow downloads and the snappy delivery of the original game was just an aberration. Once again, I don’t get to play a game I’ve purchased because updates are loaded during the times I can play it. Oh well, I’ve got other games to keep me entertained…maybe I’ll get back to Destiny after I’ve made progress there.

Incremental Improvements

Since Destiny has been blocking any progress during times I can play, I decided to head back to Albion to have some fun. My main goal right now is to increase my income so I can start affording to upgrade my gear. For the most part, I’m sitting on Tier 4.1 gear with a bit of 4.2 in my Great Fire Staff as I mentioned previously. Things are starting to get expensive though and I haven’t leveled crafting or gathering up to the point where I can make the Tier 5 or 4.2 items myself yet. That leaves me with purchasing items off the marketplace.

Albion - Marketplace Notification Mail
I did earn some silver from my farming by selling off some chicken omelettes, but while 5k might help, armor is much more expensive than that so I’m gonna have to work on improvements incrementally.

Albion - Expert's Bag
Bumping up my bag…

Albion - Expert's Cape
and my cape will definitely help give me a boost to my item level and they’re cheap enough for me to afford right now. I’m hoping to spend some time this weekend upgrading armor and trying out my first Hellgates. I’ve seen plenty of LFG announcements for Yellow Hellgates and such, but I’ve been too wary to try them out. But now that I’ve grown accustomed to the top level expeditions I think I can try to venture out into the more dangerous PVP areas. I’ve just gotta make sure that the Hellgates are worth the risk.

The Random Assault selection is…

SMITE - Jing Wei
Jing Wei is the new god I’m gonna level up in worshipers. While I was tempted to re-roll since I’ve already mastered a few hunters – Cupid, Medusa, Nieth – I decided to stick with the randomness and give her a try.

SMITE - Jing Wei's Abilities
She’s actually quite mobile for a Hunter and I was able to put out some good damage though I’ve got to get used to her abilities. Her 1 (Persistent Gust) is interesting since it can be used on me or opponents and while I can get it to hit others, I haven’t gotten the knack of using it to boost my attack speed. Explosive bolts, her 2 is pretty straight forward and is very similar to other hunter’s skills, and her 3 gives her a good escape. Once again though, I haven’t been able to get the hang of coordinating the wind gust and agility to gain multiple benefits simultaneously…that is a goal though. Finally, Air Strike is a pretty cool ability but I’ve got to learn the area of effect since it’s a bit confusing when casting the first few times. She is a fun champ and I’m sure she’ll be a nice addition to my roster once I figure her out.
