Omelettes and Wizards

Daily Ramble 34: Omelettes and Wizards

Rambling today took me from farming to flaming and both were enjoyable. Actually, farming in Albion is a bit more complicated when I’m trying to make silver. Trying to figure out what to plant and what to purchase can be a bit daunting and I’m not sure I’ve figured it out right. On the comics front, I made some more progress in my quest to read through Marvel’s 1963 issues by reading Strange Tales #105.

How to Make Chicken Omelettes

For the most part today was a day research in Albion. For the past week or so I’ve mentioned how I’ve been selling things on the marketplace, namely omelettes. They’ve been selling pretty well and making me some Silver. But I feel I can do more.

If I look at how much I’m spending on cooking the omelettes and how much the raw ingredients cost then I should be able to improve my profits and the foundation of making an omelette is farming.

Chicken omelettes need Raw Chicken, Wheat, and Hen Eggs – not too much. When getting down to the basic ingredients though I need actual Chickens to make the Raw Chcken and the Hen Eggs. So for 10 Chicken Omelettes, I need 8 Raw Chicken, 4 Sheafs of Wheat, and 2 Hen Eggs. 1 Chicken gets butchered into 15 Raw Chicken and I’m pretty sure 1 Hen can lay about 30 eggs a day so with 1 farming plot for Chickens laying eggs, I should be good for 15 batches of omelettes. Since each plot can only hold one chicken, I gan then produce 8 Chickens which makes 120 Raw Chicken. Those 120 Raw Chicken can make 15 batches of omelettes as well so 1 Egg layer for a farm looks to be good.

So I’m looking at 15 batches of omelettes which need 60 Wheat to cook and this is where things get interesting…a vegetable farm has 9 slots so if I produce all Wheat, I should farm about 90 Wheat. That’s not good though since each Chicken – layer or breeder – requires 10 food per day. If I use 90 Wheat for feeding the Chickens, I end up with no Wheat for making omelettes. So something has to give…

I went out to the marketplace and took a look at Wheat – it costs 110 to purchase with a buy order or 123 straight out. That makes each run of my omelettes 440 to 492 silver to make. When I’m only charging about 100 silver for each omelette that breaks down to 44–49 silver per omelette and cuts into my profits significantly.

So I look around at what else I can feed these chickens…they’l eat anything and the cheapest veggie is Carrots at 103. Buying carrots will let me farm Wheat and have plenty of left overs or I caan farm 6 plots of Wheat for the 60 I need for 15 batches of omelettes and 3 plots for Carrots which produce slightly more (I think 12 per plot) than Wheat.

So much to consider but I think I’m doing things right – or at least doing them this way until I think about it some more.

Strange Tales #105: The Return of the Wizard!

Strange Tales #105 by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Larry Lieber, Dick Ayers, and Art Simek. Published by Marvel Comics 1963

The Wizard was in Strange Tales #102 and he’s back again to bother the Human Torch. 1st there’s a recap of what happened in the previous encounter between the Human Torch and the Wizard. In that issue, Johnny tricked the Wizard with the help of the Invisible Girl and he was sent to prison.

Well, time has passed and the Wizard at first was a model prisoner but when granted special privileges to help out at the prison hospital, he uses it as an opportunity to steal chemicals and devise a way of escape. Once out, he issues a challenge to the Human Torch and while Sue tries to stop him, Johnny accepts the challenge.

And actually, the Torch had no problem taking on the various challenges the Wizard threw at him until Sue showed up and the Wizard used a special spray to uncover her invisible self. With Sue captured, it wasn’t long before Johnny was taken as well. Trapped in a room with a bomb about to go off, Johnny was able to destroy the trigger and then shoot the bomb off into the air where it hurt no one.

With his tricks pretty much expended, the duo captures the Wizard and save the day.

What I learned:
* Sue really doesn’t want Johnny taking on bad guys all by himself.
* The Human Torch can create flame in the form of a saw, a catapult, and a lasso.
* Johnny is learning better control of his flame abilities and can shoot small fireballs now to do more precise damage.
* Even back in the 60s, the system of good behavior for prisoners was abused by bad guys.

I’ll rate this a C.
