Learning SMITE and Wolverine Teaching

Daily Ramble 57: Learning SMITE and Wolverine Teaching

Love the SMITE Queues

One of my favorite parts of SMITE that I think places it above League is the ability to queue for multiple game modes. At this time, I think you can queue for about 7 different modes of casual play. This makes getting into a game go pretty quickly and as I try to learn a god, I really am not concerned with the game type – I can play Clash, Conquest, Arena, or Joust with no problems and still mostly get the god I want to work on. Sure, the builds might be a bit different for the different modes, but the learning is the same – I base my build on my opponents as well as game mode. And by playing multiple modes I think I learn a god faster.

League has a couple game modes but you can only queue for one type at a time. This slows things down even though though they have so many players. They do have a role selection which makes getting the lane you want easier that in SMITE but you’re stuck in the single game mode that gets boring after a while.

In any case, the diversity in SMITE keeps me coming back and I’ve been going for over a month and a half without being tempted to play League…there’s just so much less toxicity and bad matchmaking.

Wolverine opens a School

Yesterday I mentioned that I wanted to start reading some more modern Marvel comics so today I started with Wolverine & the X-Men #1. It was a nice read with a very distinct art style that I enjoyed. It’s definitely a change from everything else I’ve been reading lately and was refreshing. I’ll go into to story a bit more in another post but the idea is that Wolverine and Kitty Pryde have opened a new school for mutants and of course stuff happens.

It’s not necessarily the most novel idea but the fact that it’s Wolverine who’s opening the school is surprising. I’m looking forward to how this plays out and plays into the different storylines back in 2011 and as I mentioned, I want to dive into the issue further in another post.
