Plans for December 2017

Daily Ramble 95: Plans for December 2017

I was a bit over ambitious last month in my planning but if I don’t build stretch goals, I won’t focus on anything for the month and feel like I didn’t get much done when it’s all over. As it stands, while I may not get all my goals accomplished, I get a bunch done and feel good that I reached to at least try to complete all my plans.

This month, I’ve once again got some goals that will be hard to attain, particularly with the holidays, but I’d like to try to finish off the year with a bang.

Secret World Legends

I really want to make a final push this month in SWL and finish off all Kingsmouth missions for my level. From what I’ve seen though, there are some level 50 missions and monsters so I’ll wait to attempt those until I reach a level capable of taking them down without being slaughtered. Once I finish off Kingsmouth I’ll head into the Savage Coast to continue unraveling the mysteries of this game.

Horizon Zero Dawn

This game has really become my single player RPG focus over the last month. I made some small progress in getting into the game, discovering the future technology, and learning a bit about some of the early but deadly machines and I want to make some good progress in December. While I just learned about it recently, I want to get through the Proving, which I will make every effort to win, and start exploring the world outside the local area. With the Proving won, I want to find out what I can about who Aloy’s mother is since this seems to be a central part of the story.

Guild Wars 2

Progress in GW2 has been slow and I didn’t do much more than start up a character in November. With that in mind, I have a very small goal of completing the first map so I can get my feet wet. I’d love to do more but there are holidays this month, similar to November and I don’t know what my time levels are gonna be for any game.

SMITE

My goals this month are pretty basic…to continue leveling up my PS4 account where I’m level 11 and continue learning about ranked play on the PC.

Destiny 2

This game took a big PR hit with problems related to XP throttling and I’m not to happy with Bungie, that wasn’t the reason, but I haven’t spent too much time in this game world recently so I’m not sure what my plans are. As it was, I had only reached the point where my hunter had found his broken down ghost so I suppose a good goal for the month would be to reattain my status as a Guardian with a fully functional Ghost. On the PS4 side I put my Warlock on the shelf when the PC version came out but since the Curse of Osiris update is due out in December I figure I’ll push into that content. With my lack of knowledge on CoO, I don’t have a concrete target for the month.

ArcheAge

Last month I mentioned the MMO Book Club and their visit to GW2 and how I wanted to spend some time playing with these gamers. This month, they’re headed to ArcheAge and with them playing this in December, I reinstalled the game. today’s the first so I haven’t even created a character but they suggest that a casual leveling group can get from 1 to 25 during the first week of gameplay and improve by about 5 levels a week after that. With that in mind, I’ll look to get to level 40 by the end of the month. This might be a stretch, though, since I have other games I want to play as well.

Books

This is one area that I am gonna give myself a bit of a smaller goal than in the past couple of months. I’m only gonna target 4 books this month and I’m concerned I won’t even make that since one of the books is only available on Kindle, not in audio format. The four books I’ll target are – The Stars, Like Dust by Isaac Asimov, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, Magician: Master by Raymond Feist, and Marvel Comics: The Untold Story by Sean Howe. These should give me a pretty well rounded set of titles – WiFi, modern fantasy, classic fantasy, and non-fiction.

Comics

I’m hoping that I get the opportunity to make this a month of 10s in comics…10 issues of Marvel 1963, 10 issues of DC Rebirth, 10 issues of Modern Marvel, and then getting through a few graphic novels. In particular, I wanted to finish off the first volumes of Letter 44, Revival, and Black Hammer. Last but not least, my graphic novel reading group is reading Planetary volume 1 this month so I’ll be reading through that as well.

American Gods Viewing

Since I’m reading the novel again this month (up in books), I’d like to make some headway in watching this TV show as well and even though it might be a stretch, I’d like to get through the first half of the season. With 8 episodes for the first season, that means finishing through episode 4. I think that’s definitely doable but with the speed that I went through the first episode I’m not too hopeful on this goal.

Overall

I think this should give me plenty to attempt this month of December. With the holiday I may have extra time or I may have less, depending on obligations and work. Either way, I still think I can attain a bunch of items on this list and make December a successful month.
