Gaming Plans for January 2018

Daily Ramble 117: Gaming Plans for January 2018

I’m kinda splitting things up a bit for January in that I’ve already focused on the comics for the month and I’ve got another post coming for books, but today I’m looking at games. I’ve got MMOs, single player RPGs and 4X strategy games that I’m looking to play in January.

Secret World Legends

I’m feeling really good about Secret World Legends this coming month and I think I’ll make some decent progress. I’m firmly established in the Savage Coast at this point and I plan on tackling a bunch of the missions here in January. From my research there are about 52 missions in the zone that don’t involve high level or group content so I’m gonna set a nice goal of getting through half of those this month. 26 missions should be doable I think.

Horizon Zero Dawn

In Horizon, I’ve actually made it through the Proving but haven’t had the opportunity to put my posts together for that event – there was a lot of stuff going on with new people and a whole tribe to meet for the first time. But in January, I want to push forward in this game and start expanding the areas I’ve been exploring. There’s a mystery here that I’ve gotta figure out.

Civilization VI

I know there’s an expansion coming out soon for this game so I want to get some more experience under my belt with the vanilla version. With that in mind, I’m gonna do a bit of research to find out the strongest Civilization and try to run through a full game with them, and then march through the rest of the civs in order. At least that way I’ll have a few games worth of knowledge stored away before I have to learn the new stuff with the expansion.

Final Fantasy XIV

The vote for the January game for the MMO Book Club came back with Final Fantasy taking the lead position. I’ve play a little bit of this game before but never got much more than level 10 or so on a single class. I’ve always wanted to give it a full try tough and I think January will be the start of that push. With the rest of the book club joining in and playing, it should offer a decent motivation to stick with the game at least for the month.

Smite

Smite is once again my primary MOBA this January and I think I’m looking at both PS4 and PC versions of the game. On PC, I’ve already made it to ranked play but I’m also close to that level on the PS4. But even though I’m able to play ranked I know I still have plenty of learning to do before I’m any good at playing ranked. I think for the most point, I’m gonna focus on,earning this month and getting better so when I do start playing ranked, I’m not a liability to my team.
