Gaming Plans for February 2018

Daily Ramble 143:Gaming Plans for February 2018

Somehow I keep getting more and more games that I want to try out and play each month. Last month, I made some type of goal for 5 different games while this month, I’m looking at 8 entries. That most likely means I won’t meet all my goals or at the very least I won’t spend as much time in each game, but my interests have expanded. I think my big goal this month will be to put in a bit of time in Neverwinter Online each day so I can make good progress with the MMO Book Club. I also need to find a new Free Company in FFXIV since the book club is pretty much done with that game for now.

MMOs

Secret World Legends

I’m making good progress on the Savage Coast and so far, I’ve been able to overcome my tendency to get scared in this game. One thing I’m exploring is the possibility of changing the weapons I’m using. Blood Magic and Sword work pretty well but since I can expand, I’m thinking that might be something to try out. I was thinking that perhaps claws might be fun. In any case, I need to work on my build since I do pretty well against groups of targets but less well against solo bad guys and bosses. Something’s gotta help.

Final Fantasy XIV

I was really getting into this game finally. This time around, for some reason, I really started following what was going on and felt like I was doing more than just runing around from place to place. Perhaps starting as an Arcanist was the key change so I began the game in a different city, but I’ve been enjoying my time in game. It also could be because I’m on one of the newer servers so I get a bonus to XP so I’m moving though the lower levels quicker. I’m not sure, but I’m gonna stick with this game even though the book club moved away. I just need to find a decent group to guild up with so I can play with others when I need to.

Neverwinter Online

The MMO bookclub moved on to this game for the month of February so I’m moving as well. As I mentioned, I wanted an extension in FFXIV or even a move to SWL, but Neverwinter should be a fun change of pace. I’ve played a bit of this game in the past but never made it above level 10…I’m aready at level 5 on day 1 so I’m sure I’ll pass my previous high level. Also, with the book club involved I might even make some decent forays into dungeons this time around.

RPGs

Horizon Zero Dawn

I didn’t make as much progress as I wanted to in January but I still had fun in this game and I’m determine to make better progress in February. I’m starting to move into new regions of the game and the scenery is beautiful…I just need to take some better screenshots while I’m fighting monster robots.

Monster Hunter World

This turned out to be a fun bit of a beta/demo and I decided to purchase the game. Sure, I’ve still got a few PS4 RPG games to get through but I figured it was fun enough that I could convince my buddies to give it a try. That means I’ll be playing it along side the other RPGs I want to make progress on this month.

Civilization VI

For February, I plan on moving through to the end of my Spanish game on my iPad. I’m looking forward to the expansion but I’m not sure what the release date will be on the mobile device. I figure I’ll pick it up on my PC and see what it’s like but since I’m mostly playing (at least Spain) on my iPad I’ll wait till I finish off that game there. I’ve been enjoying the gameplay though my progress has been a bit slow thanks to all the Barbarians and I hope 28 days will be enough for my glacial turn pace.

MOBAs

I’ve been scaling back a bit of my gameplay for these types of games so far this year but I’m still looking forward to playing.

SMITE

I’m hoping to move into Ranked play at least for Joust but possibly for Conquest mode. I have a bit of research to do so I can make the step up since I want to make sure I’m conforming to the latest meta and as far as I’ve heard, there’s a new set up for the new season. I guess there’s gonna be a wider map or something…I’m not 100% sure but I’ve heard a few things on podcasts that I need to understand before I play ranked.

League of Legends

I’ve started playing this game again and have even gotten into ranked play. I figure I’ll keep with it as long as the toxicity stays at a tolerable level and so far, I’ve been pleased. I do need to branch back out to a few different champions and roles but so far I’ve been sticking with Zyra and Morgana as support and things are pretty much the same once I got over the sight stone and rune changes.

Overall

So I’ve got a bunch of games I want to play this month and a lot of progress I’d like to make. With only 28 days who knows what I’ll actually get done but at least I have a blueprint for what I’d like to do.
