Neverwinter, Trees, and Stockholm

Daily Ramble 144: Neverwinter, Trees, and Stockholm

Today I spread myself around a bit and started up 2 new games – Neverwinter Online and Tree of Savior. As usual, healing is kinda my focus for character creation but I also looked to possibly tank a bit in NWO. I also moved forward in Civ VI as Spain and finally found a second continent.

Neverwinter Online

This was the MMO Book Club vote winner so I downloaded it again and fired up a new Paladin. My previous 2 tries at this game have been as Clerics so I figured it might be worth a change to see if a new class would stick with me better than the Cleric did – I only leveled to 10 on my highest character before this.

I’m already at level 5 and enjoying the D&D feel. Already, the game seems more smooth and like there’s more going on than I recall from the last time I played. I hope that feeling continues and I am able to keep progressing. Right now, my goal is to put in at least a few minutes each day of the month into this game. I figure that’ll ensure I level beyond where I’ve been before.

Tree of Savior

This game lost out on the MMO Book Club vote this month so the club wasn’t going into the game. I did take a little bit of a look at it though and it looked interesting. For one thing, there are about 300 levels to gain and it looks like 80 or some odd classes.

The other thing is that right now, for the next week (or at least until Tuesday, there is a bonus provided to new players. With that going on, I figured I’d at least start out a character to see what the game was like and take advantage of the bonuses.

At the start of the game you can choose among 4 classes and I chose Cleric for my first. I might create a second, Wizard, but I figured I like healing best so…Cleric. I’ll keep you all up to date as to how things go in this game and if I continue beyond Tuesday.

Spain 141–151

Last time in Civ, Egypt had declared war on Arabia and while I didn’t see any fighting activity between them, Egypt was clearly the stronger militarily. This session, they also brought in a city state on their side as they took Suzerian over Seoul.

I was working to become closer to Seoul but Egypt threw 6 envoys over there and easily took over. I also found a new city state – Stockholm – which Cleopatra was Suzerian of. Both are science cities which explains how she’s ahead in science. Even though she had the new city state, I was happy since Stockholm is on a new continent…I finally found the other landmass. Sure there could be more, but not only did I find Stockholm, I also ran into China.

China is run by Qin Shi Huang and currently has the largest empire from what I can tell. They also worship Taoism which is a target for my Catholicism.

The religious wars are about to heat up since I built my first Apostle and can tell that Islam (Arabia) has also built an Apostle. They already used him to gain a new belief for thier religion – I wanted to do a bit of research before I evangelized. In any case, next time, I’m gonna expand my religion and start working seriously towards taking out Islam.
