Visiting Aloy

Daily Ramble 148: Visiting Aloy

It’s been a while since I posted about Horizon Zero Dawn but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been playing it. Sure, I have only been visiting Aloy sporadically over the past month or so, but I have made some progress.

Back with Aloy

Last time I mentioned the game, Aloy and I were trying to find Olara’s brother, Brom. He was an outcast like Aloy is but his punishment time was over. Olara wanted me to find him so he could return to the tribe. The only problem was, he disappeared leaving only a bloody camp behind. Tracks led away from the camp and eventually to a desecrated shrine and a group of Scrappers. After one run in with the beasts I decided to take a breather and now I’m back to resolve this mystery.

Scrapper

While I don’t like fighting the Scrappers I have pretty much figured out how to go about defeating them. They are tough though. After I got past the bunch, I continued following the trail of whoever desecrated the shrine.

Tracking

And it leads me to a bunch of supplies. Brom had been an outcast for a while so I’m not sure he’s the one who broke into the supply crate but whoever I’m tracking certainly was looking for something. Or maybe they just needed the food. In any case, it was more information and clues as to where Brom or his killers may be.

Supplies

Strangely though, I found the supplies that were taken from the crate further down the trail. Something was really weird here or they wanted to be followed – I better be more careful…And then I spot Brom.

Brom

He’s talking to unseen spirits and yelling that he’ll not allow them to hurt his sister. Sadly the time he’s spent away from the tribe has caused his psychosis to get worse and he’s now hearing even more voices. Fortunately, Olara told him to always listen to the voices of people he can actually see. So he listens to Aloy. He’s worried the spirits will make him hurt Olara if he goes back to the Nora tribe.

Coincidentally as he expresses his fears, she shows up, having followed me. Since he’s not ready to go back to the tribe, Olara agrees to visit him from time to time and take care of him until he can deal with the voices of the forgotten.

With Brom and Olara taken care of I turn back to my preparations for the Proving.
