Good Riddance Boston

Daily Ramble 210: Good Riddance Boston

I’m certainly glad to see Boston leaving Southern California and I hope I don’t have to see these umpires for a while either. In any case, the Angels really got rocked these past 3 games so I’m glad to have gaming and comics to disract me from the frustration of watching these games. As it was, I read and enjoyed the All-New Wolverine first issue and I played some Neverwinter Online. Both were fun and took my mind off the weak play of my team.

First Look at All-New Wolverine #1

All-New Wolverine by Tom Taylor, David Lopez, and David Navaroot. Published by Marvel Comics, 2015.
This is my first Wolverine #1 issue that I’ve read and he’s a girl. Yup, the current incarnation of Wolverine is a female cloned from Logan’s DNA. He taught her and encouraged her to be better than him, but he’s now gone…somehow dead?

In any case, Laura Kinney is the All-New Wolverine and she’s out to keep Logan’s legacy alive. And she’s pretty badass!

Taking bazooka blasts and bullets to the head, Kinney has all the healing factor of Wolverine but she’s got more of a conscience. She’s more in control of herself and able to stop short of slicing up everything in sight.

She’s also on the trail of assassins in Paris.

Fighting from the top of the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe, Kinney and her sidekick/boyfriend Angel take down the shooter only to see that she looks exactly like Laura…someone has been creating clones of the cloned Wolverine.

This is a fun first issue and the art is wonderful. Lotsa action scenes and a cool story that makes me want to continue the series.

I rate this issue a A- and look forward to reading the next few issues.

This comic can be found on Marvel Unlimited, Comixology or at your local comic book shop.

Another Dragon Attack

I recently dinged 64 in Neverwinter Online and I’ve been branching out from my typical activities of dungeon running and skirmishing. I’m still running them and using those random events to level but I’m also trying to get through some of the campaigns. The main task I have set out before me is to finish off the Neverdeath Graveyard so I can fully activate my account.

As I mentioned in a previous post, it took a bit of searching to find out where to pick up the quest but I finally grabbed the Dragon Attack quest. I also picked up a repeating task that took place in the same general area.

It turns out that the repeating task was a bit more entertaining since it involved a dragon.

This turned into a kind of open world boss fight and it was a lot of fun.

Spectacular Defense

Regardless of their recent setbacks against Boston, the Angels are still having a great year so far and they’re still leading the American League West.

While they weren’t firing on all cylinders on the offensive side, the defense was still playing pretty well.

Simmons made a couple of great plays, one in which he blindly threw to 2nd base to start a double play…

And another racing to the bag to barely make an out…

He’s definitely my Player of the Game.

Now that Boston’s gone, hopefully things can settle back into the way the season started and the Angels can get back to their winning ways.
