Planned Books for June 2018

Last month I read through 7 books and while I had a couple others that I wanted to read I didn’t get around to them. I want to stop carrying over the few books that I keep passing over in my reading and just put them on my to read list. Instead, I am gonna go with a fresh list for my planned books for June 2018.

Book Club Books

  • Circe by Madeline Miller (2018) – This sounds like and interesting historical/mythological fiction story set in Ancient Greek times. It could be pretty interesting since I miss all the mythology I used to read for D&D campaigns.
  • The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu (2014) – I already read this book a few years ago and it’s one of my A list books. The Mysterious Galaxy Book Club is reading it so I figured I’d go over it again before then moving onto the second novel in the trilogy…
  • The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu (2015) – This is the second book in the Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy and I can’t wait to see what humanity does in preparation for the coming of the aliens that destroyed Earth’s science.

Science and History Books

  • Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow by Yuval Noah Harari (2017) – this book takes a look of the possible future of humanity.
  • James Madison: A Life Reconsidered by Lynne Cheney (2014) – This is about the 4th President of the United States and an architect of the Constitution and someone I’d like to get to know better.

My Book Projects

  • Mistress of the Empire by Raymond Feist and Janny Wurts (1992) – This is the completion of the Empire trilogy and it closes out the story of Mara of the Acoma. I’m looking forward to seeing where things go with the Acoma and if things get resolved on Kelewan before we head back to Midkemia in the next book.
  • Second Foundation by Issac Asimov (1953) – This entry in the Foundation series centers around efforts to locate the Second Foundation. First the Mule wants to find and destroy the second foundation and then the first foundation try to hunt it down. We’re in the home stretch for this series and I’m still enjoying this classic.
