The Dodgers tied up Milwaukee on Saturday and today it was Boston’s turn. Heading into game 2 down 0–1 to Houston the Red Sox were on a mission and they were successful. With a 7–5 victory, the ALCS heads to Houston on Tuesday all tied up.

The battle on Sunday featured Gerrit Cole versus David Price, the All-Star versus the former Cy Young winner and it was expected to be a pitching duel. The reality turned out to be completely different.

Though neither team achieved double digits in hits, they made them all count. Houston smacked 7 hits but 4 were for extra bases including 2 doubles by Springer, one by Maldonado and a home run by Marwin Gonzalez. Those 7 hits resulted in 5 runs. It they were not enough. Boston on the other hand put together 9 hits and plated 7 runs. With only 4 extra base hits and no home runs, the Sox were able to time their hits better and make the matter more.

In any case, even with 12 runs scored there was some pretty good pitching by Boston’s bullpen who pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up only 2 hits and allowing a single run.

Pitcher(s) of the Day: Boston’s bullpen – 4.1 INN, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 K.
Player of the Day: George Springer, HOU, 2–5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 2 2B.
