2019MMM Round 2 Day 1 Preview

Round 2 kicks off tonight with battles in the Jump Jump and the Waterfalls divisions. These were the two divisions where my tournament pick took the most beating and weren’t looking so hot.

In the Jump Jump division, I lost both the 7–10 matchup and the 2–15 matchup and ended up without anyone in that contest where the 9-Banded Armadillo is taking on the Streaked Tenrec. Even without a dog in the fight, I’m kinda thinking the Armadillo will pull off the win since I think the Tenrec played his tricks in the first round and doesn’t have anything further to impress us with.

In the matchup between the Impala and Spinner Dolphin I’m picking the aquatic mammal mostly because the battle should be taking place on his home turf since he’s seeded third to the Impala’s 6th.

A less dramatic environmental challenge awaits the Bharal and Rock Wallaby. Both should be on solid ground but I think the Bharal will have the highest motivation since they’re carrying the pride of the goats on their backs.

Finally, I have no doubt that the Bengal Tiger will do what comes naturally with the Springhare. I just don’t see how the rabbit can avoid becoming lunch for the tiger.

In the Waterfalls division, I didn’t do so well either. While I didn’t lose the #2 vs #15 battle this time, I did lose out in the fight between the Marine Otter and the Aquatic Genet. With the Genet advancing against the Manatee I am stuck since I chose the Otter to take the victory over the sea cow. As it stands, I think the Manatee will prove victorious in this battle.

I also had a loss in picking the Crab-Eating Fox over the Moonrat. The rodent took the first round which left me with only the Lowland Tapir in this battle. Fortunately, I picked the Tapir to move forward against the Fox and I think it will also win against the rat.

My luck continued to be poor in the Peccary vs. Rakali battle in the first round where I could have swore that pigs were more robust and vicious that that Peccary was. Regardless, the Rakali won to confront my Beaver selection in the second round. The only issue is that I picked the pig to move into the sweet sixteen and he’s no longer around.

Finally, in the only contest where I have both competitors in the Waterfalls round 2, the Moose takes on the Flat-Headed Cat and if the TV show I watched last night is any indication, the Moose is pretty formidable. I chose him to continue to the sweet 16 and I have no doubts he will do just that.

I’ll actually be happy to get these round 2 battles behind me since I had a really rough first round in these 2 divisions. Hopefully my picks that survived that round will put up a good sowing in the battles tonight but I’m looking for more enjoyment on Monday when the second set of round 2 contests get underway. In the Tag Team and Cat-e-Gory divisions I made it through the first round pretty well so I feel much more confident in my selections over there. We’ll see…

Hope you did well in your picks and continue to enjoy the 2019 March Mammal Madness!!!
