Blaugust/Promptapalooza Day 9

Blaugust has been a blogging event that has been around for a few years now and I’ve been happy to participate. Every year, and sometimes twice in a year, gaming bloggers, pop-culture bloggers, media bloggers, and pretty much any type of blogger has a chance to come together and share their experiences about blogging. It’s a lot of fun and I love the community that it has spawned.

All kinds of content are represented in the blogosphere and today, I, right here take a look at protagonists.

Before I look into my thoughts about the question, a little preamble…

Promptapalooza Day 7

Normally about this time of year I would be working on Blaugust and trying to figure out how I am gonna keep up with all the blogs that are posting everyday. This year, I think I’m in a similar situation except we’re all following a series of prompts that Belghast over at Tales of the Aggronaut has put together or that people have come up with on their own.

I kinda like it. Not only do we get a bunch of different perspectives on some cool themes but we also get a chance to explore different blogs.

Maybe this will even get me back into my Six Degrees posts when the dust settles. I used to really enjoy traveling through six degrees of blogging and if things work out well, I think I’ll jump back on that in September…But for now, we have Blaugust: Promptapalooza.

Protagonists

For this Ninth day of Blaugust we have a prompt about protagonists…

Endalia over at Princess in a Castle queries: Tell us about some of your favorite protagonist/s and explain why.

Sadly, I have been pretty busy this weekend and have just sat down to think about this writing prompt, and I’m at a loss.

I suppose I could go with the easy thing and mention how I really like the protagonist in Horizon Zero Dawn, Aloy. Getting back into the game has reminded me about how much I enjoyed learning about har and the world of HZD…or at least the parts that I got to visit on the PS4. She’s a strong female character and I find that when given the choice, I usually play female characters.

Funny enough, the other protagonist that comes to mind is also a strong female character. Myfanwy from The Rook is another character I really enjoyed following along with. The fact that we’re learning about her and the supernatural world of the Chequay as she is learning about things is pretty cool.

When I look to comics, I find more strong female characters. I like the way Kate Bishop (Hawkeye) and Laura Kinney (X-23/Wolverine) are portrayed. They exhibit more emotion that their male couterparts and I relate to their motivations but at the same time they can really kick some butt.

So I guess off the top of my head I find that I prefer female protagonists. Why that has to do with the writing prompt, I’m not sure but I think it’s at least somewhat related.

It’s a Wrap

I’m hoping to have some more time tomorrow to explore the writing prompt but as things went today, I was really rushed.

I’m enjoying all the prompts in Promptapalooza but maybe the daily prompting thing is a bit much. I’ll try to keep up but we’ll see.
