Ramblin On in October 2020

Wow! I can hardly believe it’s been pretty much 2 months since I really sat down to write any kind of post. I mean, sure, I’ve published my coverage of Marvel and DC’s services new releases and I’ve picked out comics for my Pull List each week, but I’ve been quiet other than that.

Ok, well, I guess I did post about my time as leader of the Blapril Civilization VI Succession Game but that was mostly because I had to let everyone know where things were at as I passed on command.

No, it’s been a while.

And what have I done during that time? Well It’s been more of the COVID normal.

I did start going into the office once a week though which is kinda weird…now. A lot of extra preparation to get ready when I do go into the office but I think the added time getting ready has been offset by the lack of freeway traffic getting to work.

But that’s just covering my work life which I usually don’t comment on too much here. No, I’ve also mixed things up with my gaming, reading, and watching as well.

Gaming

I think I’ll start with how things have gone with my gaming and what I’ve been up to.

For the most part, I’m still enjoying the stuff I was a couple of months ago. I’ve been spending time in Destiny 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn. In Nioh, I’ve become kinda frustrated and have taken a break, and I’ve caused myself many headaches by trying to level up in ranked games of League of Legends. A bit of LOTRO here, and WoW there, and I’ve dallied with Out of the Park Baseball and my different seasons, but I suppose the biggest change has been that I dove back into a game that I really enjoyed previously…WURM Online.

Yup…I think I was playing that game way back in 2013…the good ‘ole pre-COVID days.

I mentioned a thing or two about looking back into the game before I took my hiatus, but I’ve really taken a journey into the game since my last post. Sometime I’ll have to look at my actual playtime but I’d say I’ve probably jumped into the game almost every day since the last time I posted here.

It’s just as fun as it was back in 2013 but they’ve updated the graphics, added a ton of new features, and a bunch of interesting new skills. I’ll tell you about how frustrated I was trying to fish the old-fashioned way soon. Also, the cooking system has become quite complex and I have yet to discover all the ins-and-outs.

In all, I’ve been having a blast back in the game and I figured that with my dive back into rambling, I would like to babble about some of my playing experiences as I get going.

Reading

When I stepped back from my regular rambles, I was trying to get into my re-reading of The Rook and while I took a break from that as well, I think I am up for a re-read and deep dive. This time around I am excited for it and I feel refreshed for my read.

I’m also considering reading Dune again. I had hoped to get things re-read prior to the new movie coming out and now I won’t have any worries…the movie release has been pushed back to next year some time. So, now I can get my full experience of the book prior to the movie and I’m pretty excited about that.

As far as comics go, I’m still enjoying a bunch of those and am looking to jot down my thoughts on what I’ve read recently.

Watching

As far as watching, I’m still working my way through Star Trek and X-Files but I’ve jumped into James Bond. Mrs. Redshirt and I have decided to run through all the James Bond movies and so far it’s been a lot of fun.

I’ve got lotsa plans to watch other shows…Buffy, Supernatural, Man in the High Castle…there are just so many cool shows out there and more being made all the time.

I hear the Expanse has a new season coming soon and I’ve gotta get on top of the second season of The Boys.

It’s a Wrap

All in all, I needed a break. I think with all the COVID stuff and the pressure of the Blaugust questions and everything I just had to step back.

It’s a good thing to do every once in a while and it helps to reset the batteries.

I think my batteries are fully charged and I am ready to get rolling again. We’ll just see how much energy they have in them.
