Horror and Betrayal

The Duke has been betrayed, Chicken Noodle has made it to the Kingsmouth safe zone, and today was a fun little adventure in Secret World Legends as the tension ramps up in Dune.

The Horror Show

Chicken Noodle made the trek from Agartha to the Kingsmouth Sheriff Station and is ready to get rolling in the town. She’s taken care of a couple of delivery missions and an escort mission and is ready for a meaty quest…Horror Show.

The Sheriff lays out a good argument for why Noodle should make an effort to collect the video cameras from around the town so they can be set up to prepare the survivors for when the zombies attack. The only problem is that the cameras are spread all over the place – the gas station, the mining museum, the bank – and of course, the zombies are all over that part of town.

Fortunately, Noodle is magical and can deal with pesky little zombies with her blood magic and an assault rifle – actually, the sheriff would prefer the use of magic so in case there is a chance the zombies might be turned back into the law-abiding townsfolk after events calm down.

In any case, Noodle heads to the gas station and acquires the first camera, fighting off zombies as she went…

Plucks the second camera from the bank…

and oops, the cameras on the museum are missing – she’s gotta head into an instance to retrieve them. And this is a neat puzzler instance filled with jumps over lasers, stealthy hiding from security cameras, and a final fight against a local who was turned evil by the Filth.

On the whole, the fights were not difficult, but if you make a mistake and miss a jump or get caught by one of the cameras, you are blown up and have to start the instance over.

Jessica and the Baron

This chapter brings together two of the main influences on Paul and the story so far…Jessica and the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. Jessica has been captured and gagged, so she can’t command anyone with her Bene Gesserit powers, and the Baron gives her to his mentat, Piter, to dispose of.

Fortunately, Dr. Yueh has prepared things, as he promised the Duke, so that as Jessica and Paul are taken away to be abandoned in the desert to die, Paul can break free, and he uses ‘the Voice’ to command one of the pilots to free his mother’s gag. Once able to speak, Jessica uses her Bene Gesserit powers to escape from the Harkonnen pilots and into the desert.

Things are now genuinely getting exciting as Paul, and his mother are trying to hide in the harsh desert of Arrakis while the ruthless Harkonnen destroy the Duke and his followers. Chapter 19 is definitely a Must Read.
