Shatner in Space and a Final Showdown

I knew going into the day that it was the day Captain Kirk launched into space, and that did not disappoint. Sure, he wasn’t going “Where No One Has Gone Before,” but it was an awesome thing to watch. He seemed genuinely mindblown by the whole time too. That was just one of many interesting things today, so here’s my rundown.

The Rundown

  • Dune Chapter 23
  • Trese Issue 4
  • Secret World Legends new weapon
  • Final Showdown of 2021 between LA and SF
  • Shatner in Space
  • I belong in the Zoo
  • LoL Flex

The Goods

Acceptance

The 23rd chapter of Dune is the beginning of the second book and the start of Paul’s Arrakeen existence. He accepts his place on Arrakis, and while his mother is still holding out the hope of life away from the desert planet, she recognizes that her existence will forever be revolving around her son from now on.

Deities and the Supernatural

Gods and goddesses…car crashes and people thrown from buildings…gunfights and stabbings…once again, Trese has a ton of fun in its black and white pages, and now I hear it’s been picked up for a Netflix show. I can’t wait!

Blood and Shotgun

Today I decided I wanted to expand my skill set in Secret World Legends with Chicken Noodle. While the Assault Rifle works well, I wanted something with a bit of a kick, so I purchased a shotgun. Little did I realize I needed to purchase the Shotgun weapon ability from the SWL store in order to start using it…but with a lifetime subscription, I have a bunch of unspent in-game money to use for things like this. We’ll see how the new weapon fits into my build.

Final Showdown

The final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants takes place today, and I am excited. First off, the Giants were not supposed to be this good at the beginning of the year, but they have pushed the defending 2020 World Series champs to the brink. One game to determine who gets to continue on to the league championship series. My money is on the Dodgers, but either way, it’s been a fun season in the NL West.

Captain Kirk Goes to Space

I am so excited to see that 90-year-old William Shatner was able to blast into space yesterday. It’s a wonderful world we live in when commercial space flight is becoming reality. And I have some hope, considering I’m not 90 years old yet…maybe someday I can make it into space as well.

Running to the San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is recognized as one of the top zoological facilities in the world, and I love the fact that it is so close to where I live. Yesterday, I ran 2.75 miles, and with my virtual starting point at Seaport Village, it was easy for me to cruise up the road to Balboa Park and the zoo. While I could easily have highlighted Balboa Park as my destination today, the San Diego Zoo is more fitting, and that is where I’ve parked many times to run the Rock and Roll San Diego Marathon.

Flexible Games

I have become so disillusioned with Solo Queue in League that I have decided to give Flex a shot, and what do you know…there are fewer AFK players, and trolls are practically absent. I actually am enjoying League again now that I am playing with adults. Of course, I am waiting for the other shoe to drop, but for now, I am having some fun.

It’s a Wrap

I can not believe I saw the day that William Shatner actually made it into space…but here it is. It’s so cool! That kicked off a good day, and the fact that I was able to find a mode of League to play that wasn’t filled with frustration and anger was a blessing. On the whole, I think the day was good, and I hope you all had an interesting and enjoyable day as well.
