Comic-Con Registration Tomorrow

Tomorrow is a big day…for those who don't have tickets yet, the San Diego Comic-Con 2016 registration is tomorrow morning.

I'm fortunate enough to have already purchased tickets for Thursday thru Sunday, but I may try to get a ticket for Preview Night.

This is the umpteenth year I'm going to Comic-Con and I am just as excited as always. I think the panels at the convention do a pretty good job of covering most of my interests…Comics, TV, Movies, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Video and Board Games, Collectables, Anime…so many fun things all in one place every year.

I count myself lucky that this event takes place in my backyard and hope it continues here. As far as I know the show is set to stay in San Diego next year and hopefully by then we will have built a new or expanded the current convention center so they can fit all the craziness that is SDCC.

As things stood last year, they co-opted numerous hotels in the area, the dock and concert venue on the bay behind the convention center, Petco baseball stadium, and pretty much the first five of blocks across the trolley tracks. It's a pretty big footprint, and with SDCC and all the related events, the whole downtown area becomes Nerdvana.

The fact that I can drive a few blocks and take a trolley to the whole thing is great. I've gone to Wondercon once in San Francisco and once in Anaheim, and I can attest that I would never be able to attend 4 days at a venue that wasn't 15 minutes away from my comfy bed. Maybe when I was younger, but after spending many a holiday weekend at GenCons or Origins, the allure of living in a hotel for an extended weekend does not appeal to me. Even my trips to Wondercon and the Star Wars Celebration last year we capped at a single day because I didn't want to deal with the hotel situation. Some year I may change my mind and get to PAX, but they gotta move one of those closer.

In any case, if you are trying to get tickets tomorrow, I wish you luck.
