31 Days of Comic-Con: Panel Strategy Type A

Day 11: Type A Strategy

I have a couple of different strategies I use to attack the panels at Comic-Con.  The first, which I’ll call Type A is focused on a high profile panel that I really want to see.  This year they include things like Star Trek: Discovery and The Tick.  These panels are my primary targets for attendance and I try to build my schedule around them. The problem usually occurs when these guys are in Hall H or are surrounded by other highly sought after panels, or the happen at the same time as another primary target.

Right now, my cornerstone panels for the con are:

  • Thursday – my primary would be Death Note but it’s in Hall H so I am setting this to Legion in Ballroom 20 at 5pm.
  • Friday – Psych is an easy choice and since its early I can pick The Tick at 4:45 as well – too bad Preacher is in Hall H.
  • Saturday – Star Trek Discovery comes into Ballroom 20 in the middle of the day so it stands alone for Saturday.
  • Sunday – This day has a bunch of stuff I’d like but nothing that stands out except maybe Dr Who (in Hall H) and Mr Mercedes at 1:30 in Room 8.

By picking a cornerstone panel for each day I can fill in the panels around them to try to get the best coverage of things I’m interested in.
