It’s Nice to get a Win

It was sure nice to get a win for a change and with it, the Angels break their 4 game skid.

Walking Wounded

On a day that saw 4 Angels land on the disabled list it was good to watch the active players go out and snag a victory. Garrett Richards, Zack Cozart, Jim Johnson, and Nick Tropeano all ended up on the 10-day disabled list today to bring the number of injured on the team to 15 – the largest number in MLB. I think we can finally call this team the walking wounded and while I haven’t counted, I think there’s more rookies and non-opening day starters on the team right now than veterans.

In any case, it was good to see Skaggs (6–4, 2.81 ERA) pitch well. considering the fact that 4 starters are down along with 5 relievers, its surprising the Angels can field a pitching staff. I suppose all my complaining about how bad the bullpen is was a bad idea seeing as they are practically all new faces now and these don’t have the experience the others had. But Skaggs turned in a good outing going 7 innings, striking out 8 and not allowing an earned run.

Mike Trout may have gone 3 for 3 with a walk, 2 runs, and an RBI but rookie catcher Jose Briceno gets my Player of the Game by picking up a double, 2 singles, a run and an RBI. 3 for 4 isn’t bad for a guy who’s only played 6 games.

John Lamb (0–0, 0.00 ERA) gets the call today to make his first start of the year for the Angels against Sean Manaea (5–6 3.49 ERA). Hopefully the Angels can make a habit of this winning thing.
