Lanterns, Rooks, and Bour…A Good Start

Meet Gestalt, The Rook Chapter 4

The work day has started and after a cab ride, a drive in a Rolls-Royce, and a confrontation with conspiracy theorists, Myfanwy finally made it into the office. As a leader in the Checquy Group, she was now committed to trying to figure out who was involved with the attack that resulted in her losing her memories. The only problem is that whoever it was had superpowers and was probably looking for an opportunity to complete the assassination.

Her secretary, Ingrid, seems nice enough so I don’t think she’s involved and Frau Blumen certainly seems to like ‘Miffy’ quite a bit so I’d call her safe as well. Colonel Hall seemed to be a competent field commander but he didn’t seem to be the traitorous type.

But in this next chapter we get to meet Gestalt. He’s another Rook and a member of the Court and from what Thomas (the previous inhabitant of Myfanwy’s body) wrote, whoever attacked her had to have been one of the leaders.

Today we’ll see what our first meeting is like with this powerful Rook and perhaps we’ll have a better idea of who has it out for our hero.

In any case, today we see how things go when Myfanwy meets Gestalt

Forgot The Rebirth

I guess in putting together my Pull List yesterday I neglected to include something I was planning on adding and even mentioned yesterday morning. I forgot to include some new DC Rebirth reading.

As things stood, the last issue – the one that stopped my DC Rebirth reading -was Suicide Squad Special #1. I really did not like that issue and the politics in it really turned me off. Using that as my end point I’m gonna start right after that…

  • Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps Rebirth #1
  • Green Lanterns Rebirth #1
  • Green Lanterns #1
  • Green Lanterns #2
  • Justice League Rebirth #1
  • Green Lanterns #3
  • Green Lanterns #4
  • Green Lanterns #5
  • Green Lanterns #6

I’ve added 6 issues of Green Lanterns since I wanted to include the entire Rage Planet story arc. I’m hoping this will get me started back on my DC Rebirth catch up. At the very least, I’ll feel good if I get back into this reading.

Bour Hits 2

With a big night from Justin Bour, the Angels move back above the .500 mark as they finish their 81st game. Halfway though the season and they’re a game above .500.

Ok so it’s not as good as I’d hoped they’d be playing at the start of the season but then again it’s better than I expected at some points so far.

Actually I think things look positive since the team is finally starting to look like they planned at the start of the season. Ohtani is out there almost every night and Upton is finally over his toe injury. The main piece missing right now is Simmons who should be coming back soon so we’ll finally get to see what the offense can do. Hopefully with the batters running on all cylinders, the pitching corps can get some rest and work on improving their numbers behind some good support.
