DC Universe New Weekly Releases August 13, 2019

DC Comics started to release new comics to their DC Universe platform about a year after they enter circulation as floppies. With that in mind I decided to list off those released each week as I do for Marvel Unlimited. The DC releases come out on Monday just like the Marvel comics but since they are pushed to their site in the evening I figured I’d publish their list on Tuesday…

Here’s the new stuff I’ve found this week that were released August 8th 2018:

Top Issues of the Week

17 new comics released today compared to 14 last week.  Looking at Comic Book Roundup which aggregates a bunch of review sites, here are the top issues from this batch of comics. Only 2 issues meet my current threshold for top honors this week.

  • Red Hood and the Outlaws #25
  • Injustice 2 #70

Closing it Down

There were no Number Ones this week but there were a few stories that were finishing off.

  • Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #50 by Robert Venditti and Jordi Tarrona
This issue brings the 9 issue Darkstars Rising arc to a close with the big fight with the Darkstars and the Corps. It’s also the last one of Venditti’s run on this series.
  • Red Hood and the Outlaws #25 by Scott Lobdell and Trevor Hairsine
Completes the 7 issue Good Night Gotham arc and I’m intrigued by this one since not only did it rate highly, I’ve enjoyed all the Red Hood stories I’ve read so far.

Jumping on Points

  • Flash #52 by Joshua Williamson and Christian Duce
This issue kicks off the Reckoning Forces story line after the fun Flash War arc finished off last time.
  • Supergirl #21 by Marc Andreyko and Kevin Maguire
It’s been a few months since the previous issue but this kickoff to the Killers of Krypton story arc looks promising.
  • Sideways #7 by Dan DiDio and Kenneth Racafort
starts up the Rifts and Revelations story that sees Sideways head into the Dark Multiverse with the Seven Soldiers. I’m not sure what that all means but this would be a good place to jump on if you want to find out.

Events

  • Suicide Squad #45 by Rob Williams, Dan Abnette, and Jose Luis
Part One of the Sink Atlantis event that runs into Aquaman #39 later in the month as the Squad tries to deal with an Atlantis that has risen to the surface to assert it’s power.
