Crafting Baseball Brutality on a Desert Bay

I’m back to rambling today, and I think I might actually see about making my ramble a daily occurrence. We’ll see, but for today at least, I will focus on recent activities such as my running, reading, gaming, and watching baseball.

The Goods

From Star Wars to the Bay

Last time I clocked my virtual run, I went from Montgomery Airport to Mark Hamill Drive and had a nice time of it. Today I pretty much am headed downhill the whole way as I run the 4 miles between Mark Hamill Drive to Mission Bay. This is where I do a lot of my running and where I trained for the marathons that I’ve run. The bay has a nice boardwalk and plenty of room to run as you go past Sea World, Fiesta Island, and Crown Point. It also connects to Mission Beach if I want to take an extra-long run as I’m training.

Learning from the Desert

As the Baron seemed triumphant in the previous chapter, we see Paul and his mother trying to survive in the desert during Chapter 27, and they are struggling. Losing equipment and patience will not help them on Arrakis, though, and while they get through the night, things are looking kinda bleak.

Houston on the Brink

The Red Sox have been pretty surprising this season, but they are staring at the end of 2021. While they blasted 12 runs in Monday’s game, they’ve only scored 3 runs since. With Houston scoring 18 in those 2 games, they’ve pulled out to a 3–2 game lead in the best of 7 ALCS.

Atlanta on the Brink

Who would have thought that an upstart 88 win team would be preparing to eliminate the defending World Series Champs? Did the Dodgers run outta gas in beating San Francisco? Do they have any more magic to pull out of their hats? Down 3–1 in the NLCS, today could be the last game of the Dodger’s season.

Crafting with my Bear

While I’m not expecting to be doing much crafting in LOTRO as I level up my Beorning, I figured since I have the crafting quest, I might as well check off that box. I picked up Forestry, Prospecting, and Tailoring along with a Universal Toolkit, and I think Pangolyn is gonna be pretty good if she happens to run across rocks or trees in the wild.

Protection behind the Wall

I’ve tried watching Attack on Titan – the anime series – multiple times, and it has never really clicked with me. Perhaps it’s the brutality of the Titans in the first episode, but I figured I’d give the manga a shot. Today I read through the first issue, and while it pretty much is the same as the anime, I was able to get through it without cringing…and the first issue doesn’t have the scene that really breaks my heart – I have that to look forward to in the next issue I think.

Which is Worse?

Finally, speaking of brutality, I watched the second episode of Squid Game, and it was actually a relief. The ‘players’ were offered the option of returning to the real world, and they took it. The only problem was that the real world was as brutal, if not worse, than the game. Things seem pretty bleak in the Korea depicted in the show.

It’s a Wrap

I’m really excited to see where things go with the MLB playoffs. While I am kinda rooting for Atlanta, I don’t really have much opinion on whoever wins. The American League is usually my favorite, but I feel like both Boston and Houston have a legacy of cheating, so I really don’t want either to do well. And in the NL, I really don’t like the Dodgers other than the fact that they are on the West Coast. I guess I’m just gonna hope for good games and not really worry about who wins.
