Getting Setup In WoW Classic

One thing that’s interesting about the WoW Classic servers is that the 2 main guilds I’ve spent time with are both joining in the same server. I guess there’s a big deal about avoiding streamers and such and since neither guild is PvP centric, they want a nice peaceful place to adventure. I can’t blame them…that’s one of the reasons I joined each of them so I’ll be happy to jump into Classic with them.

First Characters in WoW

As I mentioned in my Morning Ramble, my first character in WoW was a Priest. I really wanted to be a healer and that seemed the way to go.

Then I heard about these hunters that would dominate all content including dungeons by themselves. Hunters would run around kiting things and sending their pets in to tank for them. Pretty well self sufficient and with First Aid and potions, they hardly needed anyone else. Tank, heals, and damage all in one package. So my second character was a hunter. She was pretty fun but I felt lacking when it came to playing with a group. I mean, sure I could DPS with the best of them but was there any support? Not much.

So my 3rd character was a Druid. I liked the idea of a big cow running around that could turn into a cheetah when I wanted to go fast, a lion when I wanted to jump into melee or be stealthy, a bear when I needed some tankiness, or a tree. I didn’t really go for the chicken but that was back then. I came to enjoy playing the chicken and eventually, this Druid became my main.

Picks for WoW Classic

So for my foray into WoW Classic, I’m thinking I’m gonna go with my Druid and grab her name. I stuck with her and she’s actually level 101 in BfA though I haven’t played her much in the past year or so.

I also went with my first choice in characters…the Forsaken Priest. I liked healing in early WoW, particularly the strange way we had to downgrade spells to conserve mana. And bubbles were awesome!

Picks for WoW Classic

With two of my 3 saved names picked out and the characters set up, what to choose for my 3rd? I could go hunter but I figure everyone is gonna have a hunter. I could go Shaman since I like the idea of that class though I’ve never taken one beyond level 25 or so. I also like Warlock but I’ve already got a Forsaken and I usually like to run undead warlocks.

I suppose the good news is that I can have more than 3 characters even if I can only reserve 3 character names.

As far as things go, I’m not attached to any names beyond my first 3 selections and one of those was already taken. I think I’ll be fine with the Druid and Priest and save creating my Warlock, Hunter, and Shaman until after the server actually starts.

Not a problem.

What are Your Choices?

So did you have a difficult decision to make when trying to reserve names for your Classic characters? I’m thinking a lot of people have a main that they’ll try to recreate but beyond that I think a lot of people will be in the same boat I’m in.

Classes back in WoW Classic were very different from how they are in BfA, I mean I remember worrying that I would run outta ammo as a hunter and also as a hunter you almost had to be an Engineer so you could make guns or arrows. As a healer you had to learn how to downgrade spells, and mana was almost always in short supply.

I’m looking forward to seeing how things go but I’ve don’t have any glorified visions that things will be wonderful. I just hope they’re fun again.
