Excited for a New Season of Venture Brothers

Groundhog Day

I'm not sure about the groundhog, but it certainly feels like winter is going to continue for quite a while. It is so cold here in San Diego I've been wearing gloves for the past month. The storm that we had over the weekend was pretty horrendous with extremely bad winds – I'm surprised more trees, including my own, did not fall down. We did have a lamp post and a tree fall down near work so I've been making sure not to park near anything tall. 50° is not that cold, but for San Diego, it's not what we're comfortable with – hopefully we will start getting a little bit warmer. I don't mind the rain but I am getting tired of how cold it's been.

Venture Brothers

The Venture Brothers are back! I was pretty impressed with the episode and think that this could be a really cool season. The fact that the Guild of Calamitous Intent is having issues and the Council of 13 or rather the Council of what I guess it's about five or six now, hasn't built back up yet, is kind of interesting. I think the arching will be pretty good this season.

This show also reminds me of how infused in popular culture David Bowie was. He was the Sovereign (for a while) and I was wondering if they would do anything to pay homage to him this season now that he has passed on. I suppose that since the Sovereign is gone from the Council of 13 as of last season it's not going to be that significant a part, but they did mention him in this first episode.

As with all Venture Brothers episodes you really have to watch them multiple times to see and get everything that's going on. I like the fact that Brock is back in the fold as the bodyguard the Venture boys again. I like Sergeant Hatred but Brock has always been my favorite and I prefer having him protecting the boys rather then gallivanting with OSI.

Galavant

Speaking of gallivanting, I gave Galavant a try the other day. Definitely not my cup of tea. While I like musicals like My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, this was just not something that was enjoyable for me. It looks like it could be a good show and has some potential but I've got way too many things to watch right now that it's going off my TiVo.
